We are mice, led by mad rats.
We squeak so silently that no one hears us.

There tends to be a silent majority as these are the people who currently and generally happy with the situation. They are silent because the Government is doing what they want.

To take an example there werent any pro-war marches not because there were no supporters of the war but because they didnt need to march to make their "voice heard". Also they were so proud of there being at least a million people in such a march and that they bussed in from all over the country.

The population of London itself is around 5million and the UK is around 60million.

The silent majority tend to be moderates in most things political. They see the left and the right as too extreme and closed minded. They tend to stay silent because most are too busy with their lives(work,family,bills...ect.).I guess there's also a bit of defeatism also. Most see the argument between the left and the right(conservative/liberal) as a waste of time and energy.

the silent majority are those that believe the country is screwed and that whatever they do their voice will never be heard. The government only listens to minorities didnt you know?

they are a useful means by which papers such as the Daily Mail can sell their unique brand of poison by claiming that there is a great level of support for any of their sexist, racist or other unpleasant neo-facist "policies" and the beauty of it is .... no one will ever know that they are not a majority...it is a false claim and whenever used should be treated with the contempt it deserves

they are always on hand to justify any position that's lacking obvious support, though they seem to favour vaguely right-wing ones.

Fair point though. Silence is abdication, right?
