I would like to twist that question for you -
Why do we still depend on the Indian Judiciary when the media pronounces judgments everyday?

Simply because the Police or the Judiciary are not profit making ventures owned by rich industrialists. They are governing bodies created by the law of the land to serve the people. And are accountable by law to do so.

Yes, we all know how corrupt they can get. But there is a law that applies to them, there is justice that shall be served. And there are still honest people within it, doing good work. This belief, in our law, is what is still holding our democracy together. Without it, like Afghanistan, we would be an anarchy in no time.

As for the media, it is a private body, with its own vested interests of profit making and is not accountable to the court of law to deliver justice or serve the people. As we have seen in cases, like the Veerappan hunt or the Bin Laden case where journalists would interview them, but refuse to tell the police their whereabouts. They were not acting in the interest of the nation, they were acting like businessmen. Is that the sort of people you want handling your evidence?

One has to become a party to a particular case then only evidence can be accepted. Since media can niether become a party to every case nor its intention is so, the evidence it shows on the t.v. can not be accepted by the court.

the police dept is established only for that purpose.u may not get a right info from any media as they may differ from one to another..so evidence given by police is only considered as the true one.
