And don't say it's because of the rules! Why can't the rules be changed to reflect a changing world? Why does the emperor have to be a man? Are there any other world monarchies that forbid women from ascending to the throne? Would you like to see a female emperor in Japan?

One word: tradition.
Japanese are very conservative people. Extremly conservative I may say. They would hate to break their tradition.

Because they only view women in subservient roles not powerful when it comes to royalty. The changing world around them doesn't matter. It's tradition that probably will never change. I'm sure there are other world monarchies that forbid women from taking the throne. I'm not sure which ones. It really doesn't matter to me who is the emperor of Japan.

A centuries tradition ,who are we to ask and try to change something that has worked for the Japanese? A n emperor is an emperor, an empress is a female, dont change the words to accomodate confusion.

If she has a sex change she can. No I wouldn't like to see a female Emperor of Japan, I have enough problems seeing a male one.

Because an "Emperor" is a mans title. "Empress's" would be the title for a woman.
