If you are poor, should you be allowed to have 30 kids, becuase you believe that when your kids grow up someday, they will support?

Should the governmant do something to prevent poor parents to more kids?

If you are poor and think that having children will provide for your future, then you are not right in the head. More than likely your children will also be poor, and you will be worse off financially! Usually the logic people go by is more along the lines of having 30 kids because then the eagle craps out more cash.

I think the only thing the government could/should do is to tell anyone who is on public assistance that if they have more children, they aren't going to get more money. If they still qualify for assistance, they will recieve some... but none of this "I'll have another baby so I can get more welfare" crap. The government could also offer incentives for women who remain on birth control... but that would require a dip into their privacy because they would need to get the birth control shot and have a physician certify that they actually got it.

I think SOMETHING needs to be done... I live in an area where everywhere I go, I see poor single teenage mothers of more than one child who basically plan to be on welfare and public assistance their whole lives. Something needs to wake them up to being responsible, but their innocent kids shouldn't have to suffer.

I have four very well spaced kids--5,9,17,& 20. I have never been congratulated on any of my pregnancies or new babies because everyone I know is so judgemental. Either my husband was not who they would have picked, I hadn't gone to college, I didn't own a home, I didn't have a million dollars in the bank, etc. I had no intentions of being one of those sad women who go to fertility clinics in their 40's because everything in their lives had to be perfect before they would try to conceive. I guess poor people should give their kids to these women who did things the 'right' way. Not! Some people are never going to have all these things but that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with hard working people having the comfort of a loving decent sized family. I never had a single one of my children to receive benefits of any kind. Why would any reasonable person do that? It's hard work raising kids and believe me, the state doesn't give you anywhere near enough to make it worth it. I've seldom had to rely on their help anyway, but I'm not ashamed of the times I have. If average people could be paid a living wage we wouldn't need the help, now would we? If we had reasonable access to healthcare we wouldn't be any kind of burden on society. Not to mention that some 'benefits' are actually forced on people. If they didn't seek prenatal care and something goes wrong then they would be prosecuted. I am done having kids, but not because anybody says so. It's just because I've had enough.

By the way, why is it okay for illegals to have a dozen kids at taxpayers expense but citizens should know better?

No, the government shouldn't be allowed to tell a woman she's only allowed a certain number of children. It's one of the beauties of living in this country. Otherwise, we might as well live in China where they actually practice this (one child per couple).

The government should, however, crack down on welfare and stop giving these women more and more and more foodstamps and WIC for each child they have.

I don't think that the government has the right to regulate family size. I do believe the government should refuse public assistance for more than a certain number of children. The government already funds planed parenthood which offers low coast birth control.

I do not believe that even in the eyes of God it would be right to have children and plan on the state supporting them all their life. However if a family is supporting their children and somrthing happens to one or the other parent and they can no longer work and do not have the inurance to pay them then I can see where they would need the help. It wasn't planned to happen.

First of all, the government should have NOTHING to do with how many children people choose to have.

But, if I may answer your question with a question: if the government did choose to "do something to prevent poor parents from having more kids," (which of course is impossible, ridiculous, and inefficient) how do you suppose the government should punish those who are poor but get pregnant anyway?

Most of the poor are uneducated so they dont have any educaation on birth control or about future. They will somehow try to pass the day.Their only entertainment is sex.Ultimately they end up with more kids.Nobody can blame them.Any government in any country should make efforts to provide employement to poor.Important part is to give them proper education. Then only they can apply for employement.Otherwise no employer will consider them for employement in their establishments

It doesn't even makes sense to discuss something like this - it is a total waste of time - there is NO WAY the US government would or could regulate child birth in this manner. It is ludicrous to even suggest something of this nature. Would you like to increase taxes by say 20% to fund the cost of a program of this nature? You would need administrators, record keepers, doctors, nurses, laws, penalties plus a census count of the nation every year as well as economic advisers and the list goes on and on....impossible, simply impossible!

This is one of the reasons why people are poor. Give them education its the only way to help. Giving money is actually counter-productive.

Definitely, if they are on state assistance, two should be the limit and more than that your on your own. If your supporting your family well then that's your choice.
