I think you need to interview her friends and ask them what she'd like and come up with a sweet sixteen surprise. Your daughter's best friends will tell you what she likes and doesn't.

When I turned 16, oh so many years ago my mom did a birthday scavenger hunt.

Here is what she did: We started out in the morning at our house and she gave me a clue. The clue had to do with a friend, and so we drove to that friend's house. Upon knocking at the door the friend appeared with a present and the next clue. So we figured out the next clue and went to the next house etc, till I had about 16 friends, presents and clues all piled in the station wagon. The last clue sent us back to our house, where my dad and siblings had put together a great themed breakfast party. We ate, played games and had a really great time.

Screw the party, get her a car.

Well if you have a party, dont do a theme, thats for lack of a better word, gay. Just do like streamers and sweet 16 banners with different colors and stuff. Make sure you have yummy food and it will be a hit.

Have a cowboy an Indian party. Make it a surprise and invite everyone she knows. Make half the guests dress like Cowboys and the other half Indians. You can also get those pony heads on a stick and plastic guns. She will think its awesome, and will think you are the greatest mom in the world. Oh and don't worry about her getting embarrassed, because she wont. Its what all the kids like these days. Trust me.

Unless you are planning on it being a surprise, ask her. She will probably have a pretty good idea how she envisions it to be. It is a significant milestone for many. Regardless, Hershey's kisses are a must.

How about going to get their nails done. Or get a bunch of spa stuff and have a spa party sleep over.

16? Should probably start with a keg and a male stripper, then stay the H*ell out of the way.
