I agree with you on some level. I believe at root we are all users as well as used. It is the nature of all relationships. Everyone befriends someone because they need something on some level. After-all we are social creatures because we use our social structure to meet needs.
If you go to a restaurant you use the server to help with your dinner. At a vehicle service center you are using them to repair your car. In return these people are using us to earn a living.
Everyone has needs and must satisfy them.
As long as everyone is in the know on the front end I do not think it is a bad thing, it happens in every relationship. We even USE our true friends for company, entertainment and emotional support. They in turn use us.
It is natural.

If you really think about it, doesn't everybody use everyone they know for something? We even adjust who we are around different people to maximize the self benefits. I've been aware of this for some time. When they become less useful we care less about them. I have tried not to be this way, but I see it in everyone I know. Maybe it's just natural.

I see what you're saying. We all need help sometimes, it's okay to take as long as you give back.
But allowing yourself to be used sexually, or using another sexually in my opinion is never okay.
And you shouldn't have friends just for personal gain, you should really like them, but it's also okay to use them when you are in need as long as you are a true friend back to them.
