society sees the term "sucks" as a bad word because American society doesn't suck it just swallows.

It was originally derived from sexually derogatory language.
"that sucks" is a lot more acceptable now than it was 10-20 years ago.

Because it implies oral sex. I find it personally offensive because I don't see oral sex as a bad thing; therefore, the negative connotation ("this moldy bread sucks!") is inappropriate.
