Put the raw numbers in a column. Then highlight the column and click the auto sum button on the tool bar. It looks like a sideways M.

You need at least two columns
In A1 put the unit cost of one kind of goods
in B1 put the quantity of that kind
now, in C1 paste this
=a1*b1
and press enter
copy and paste C1 into the cells below until you satisfy
from now on, each time you enter unit cost in column A cells and quantity in column B cells, column C cells will tell you the total costs
Now in D1 paste this
=sum(C:C)
and mark me as best if you liked that

I assume you want somehting like quantity times unit price, or are we calculating labor plus materials plus markup?
