It's only a small domestic mouse, but it's darn fast! It likes to bite holes in our rubbish bags to see what is inside. I've tried those little black rocking capture traps that you fill with cheese or peanut butter, but the critter is too wise to venture inside.

First mouse proof your house. You may have more then one and they could re produce. Keep the place food free for the mouse to go after. It must be forced to eat out of the trap only.

There are different type of traps, try the kind that are designed for release. You must have tried the one where you use poisoned beat but you just used something else.

If the trap is the correct type use different foods , use more then one kind of food.

Most important keep the trash can/bag away it can smell food there and go after it, the mouse must be interested in going after the food in the trap. Small piece of very Strong smelly cheese does the trick.

PS

If you release the mouse it will find its way back in the house.

Patience. If you want to catch it without killing it, I would suggest laying a trash can on it's side with something good to eat in it. Watch for the mouse to run in -- when it does stand the can up and take the little guy outside.

Good Luck!

Get a large outdoor trash can and place a little bit of food in the bottom of it. Place it near something the mouse can climb on to get into the trash can. Wait.... it might take a day or so.
The mouse will climb into the trashcan for the food and will not be able to get out. Just put the lid on the can and take it, with the mouse inside, to where ever you want to get rid of the mouse at.
Dump the mouse out.
Cheap humane way to get rid of a mouse.

You can usually find a glue trap in your marketplace. there are directions on the back to free the rodent without killing it. I do recommend that you check it a couple of times a day to minimize the suffering. Put a couple out in the area where you see the mouse running. He will run across it and get stuck. This is also the safest method if you have kids.

First, once you release them, it is right that you should bring them more than a mile away. Do you have a bicycle, otherwise have a nice stroll. Second, the big one could have died because of the bon bon. Perhaps too big to swallow and it got stuck half way down. The crackers you gave them could have contained too much salt that killed them. Better give them some cheese and salad leaves. Thirdly, you should have your place disinfected and cleaned of any surplus food lying around. Having so many mice in your direct living environment is unnatural and unhealthy. And you should control your habits of leaving any food around. That attracts them and they will really feel welcomed at your place.

Get a cat? Or borrow one? The cat will catch the mouse and you can grab the mouse from the cat before the cat kills it and you can then put it outside.

Milk bottles with some nice stuff in it. They can get in but not out.
