I planted new grass, and my dog urinated on a spot, and it looks awful.. I have since put up a fence to protect the new grass. What can I use to fix this spot without tearing it out and reseeding it? PLZZZZZ HELP!! :(

There is a product called Doggonit that is an enzyme that breaks down the uric acid so it can no longer cause damage. Call around to your local lawn and garden centers and see if any have it. Once a spot starts to yellow and you spray this stuff on it it comes right back.

If you can't find Doggonit then lime is the next best thing but lime works very slowly so by the time it has worked the grass probably will be dead in those spots.

You can reseed in the fall--Sept is a good month to do it in areas that have cold winters. You don't have to tear it all out if you have to reseed. Just rake out enough of the dead that the new seeds contact the soil and you'll be OK.

Water it out, the dog has saturated the ground, in order to make it go away you need to get a hose and flood the area , not the whole yard, just the area around the stain in the grass.Start off by just watering it it well, then after it's good and wet, leave your hose on a good trickle for an hour or so.Do it everyday for 1-week and it should be gone.

basically its too late to do anything to reverse the spot.. without work.. of course.. the winter is coming and i call the winter the fix it season.. the grass will work on fixing that area on its own, and will be looking beautiful by spring..if you do not want to do anything.. i heard a rumor that if you put alittle tomato juice on the dog food before you feed the dog, it neutralized the acid in the urine.. i tried it and it worked!!! you can buy stuff at the pet store too, to give to your dog.. but who knows what that has in it??

You can only "save" it if you notice the spot starting to turn yellow ... once it's turned, it's basically dead. However, it you can catch it just as it starts to turn, douse the spot with water, then sprinkle a small amount of garden lime on the spot. Don't go overboard with the lime.
