I live on the Gulf Coast of MS. It very rarely, if ever, freezes here. I have a 6 foot fence, but need something that will grow above this to at least 10-12 feet or more. I would like to plant them soon. Please let me know what to plant, how fast it grows, and when to plant it! Thank you so much.

What would really be nice and will grow to those heights are Brugmansia Angel Trumpets. They will survive a freeze but would die back until spring. If it doesn't freeze there, you should be in pretty good shape for growing these beautiful plants. They also have a wonderful scent and come in many exciting colors. These plants needs lots of water and fertilized at least once a week. You'd be amazed at how fast they grow. I've had them reach 8-12' tall in about three months, from seed. I grow and hybridize these plants and I know from experience how well they do. You can find seeds, cutting and plants on Ebay. Country Gardens, Casa Cola Creek, TC Topcat are just a few of the good sources I know. Right now, I am not selling on Ebay until after vacation time in December. You can get seeds, start them in small pots and when they get up to about 12" tall, set them directly in the ground, water well and feed.

The blooms get as large as 24" and opened as big as a dinnerplate.

I just moved from the Gulf Coast of Alabama, but while still living there, I planted one Austree, took numerous cuttings from it (stuck the cuttings in moist soil until established, and they grew like crazy), and the original tree took off, about 5 feet per year. The tree is amazing! It looks like a weeping willow. Fantastic tree growing rapidly, however, it is deciduous (loosing most of its leaves in the winter). The form is beautiful, swaying in the breeze, I think they reach about 20 ft within 2 years...... I ended up having them everywhere. I highly recommend this tree (you can find them as I did....on the internet; just type in www.austree.com/rma/trees/austree. You can plant it as soon as you get it provided it isn't freezing. They come bare-root, and about 5-8 ft. tall.

Weeping Willows grow fast and block a lot of view.
The down side is that they can have devastating roots. If you can plant it close to a natural water source the roots will move in that direction. If not try a lilac bush, they get pretty tall and offer a great scent in the breeze.
