Must go with giddaymate on the harbour cruise. There are many vantage points to watch the fireworks, but the best view would be on a boat and you will be catered to as well.

The year 2000 I bought tickets for a harbour cruise, all you can eat and drink, it was awesome.

The other choices are Milsons Point, Kirribilli or Cremorne Point.
If you plan on driving the police close off the roads early near the best viewing areas so get there early all you have to walk a long way and its hard to find parking.
