What did he do? He created one of the first modern computers (by modern I mean built in the modern age, not modern as in a desktop computer).

It's Charles Babbage and he's known as the Father of the Computer because he created the 'Analytical Engine' which was the stepping stone for other, more advanced computers of his time and gradually the modern computer.
