If I came onto a website and started spouting off some crap about how I was dangerous and a serial killer and blah blah blah and I then went on to say I knew where someone lived would the person have a subconscious "better be careful then" switch despite the fact I would be laughed off the site and rightly so?

Real serial killers do not want this kind of publicity. They want to control all the elements of their actions and the preception of their actions.

Our subconscious would be more apt to notice when someone has been stalking us, as in we see them over and over in public places...we get the notion we are being watched, and then it bugs us until we can pinpoint what is UP with this feeling. We might not even put our finger on it until we see him/her outside of our work or house..then all those subconscious clues become conscious and we know we have a stalker.

The reality is that the internal switch that you refer to should kick in. However there have been many documented cases whereby such occurrences have happened and have not ended in a hahaha joke but rather a funeral so if you made such a gesture you would have to put up with the consequences. Youn would be in a world of trouble for a start. If you ahve a documented threat to someone then it's a federal case and you will be traced. The person you where stalking would probably crap themself...

The best switch to press is in your head, the ignore switch. Let them say what they like, they only want the sort of reaction you are talking about. Ignoring them would annoy more.

I think your question is a little convoluted but threatening people is a bad scene.Personally, I'd report it.

If that were to happen, I would be seriously disturbed and would report the poster.
