It's actually freaky to me...Apollo I, Challenger (STS-51L), and Columbia (STS-107)....Like the World Trade Center, I'm sure the world will never forget our heroes of space exploration. I was extremly affected by the Columbia tragedy. I cried a lot even though I didn't know the people aboard. However, Kalpana Chawla and Laurel Clark are now my role models...May they all rest in peace!

Statistical aberration, that's all it is.

A statistical analysis shows that, despite the fact that there are 365 days in a year (366 in a leap year), if you have a party of 100 people, there's a 50-50 chance that two people will share a birthday.

And a great example of that is in my neighborhood -- within 3 homes, there are four males named Dave, and three of them were born on June 13th. Wierd!!

It's because.................

In these accidents (except World Trade Centre) you are talking, the technical defects in the spacecraft were not removed (not intentionally....i.e. the technical defects were present despite all precautions)...(& defects are still there...the challenge will always be there and we have to learn a lot yet).

The point I am trying to make is that if serious technical flaws are still there then whether you launch the spacecraft in April or May or June...accidents are going to occur. And if you see closely the records majority of the launches occur in these months only...so all accidents seems to occur with few days apart...as you are saying.

Re the dates...statistical fluke.
I was onboard USCGC Dauntless when Challenger exploded.
We did salvage.
Back to flukes.
USCGC Dauntless had crew of 65.
Three of us had the same birthday...9/11/51
