This is called the Fermi Paradox. There are a number of possible solutions:
- They don't want us to know about them yet; perhaps they are waiting to invite us into a 'galactic club'.
- They are simply not interested in us, and their methods of communication are too advanced for us to pick up on our own.
- They do not communicate between stars at all, because they are all new age environmentalist hippies who hate technology.
- They do not communicate between stars at all, because they all plugged themselves into computers ages ago and are playing computer games for the rest of eternity because it's more interesting than exploring the real Universe.
- They all blow themselves up in nuclear wars and never manage to reach other star systems.
- They all destroy themselves with genetically engineered diseases and never manage to reach other star systems.
- They all destroy themselves with reproducing nanomachines and never manage to reach other star systems.
- They all destroy themselves with advanced physics experiments gone wrong (black holes, zero point energy, whatever) and never manage to reach other star systems.
- They have all made an agreement that none of them will ever attempt to take over anything outside their immediate area, sacrificing the good of their own empires for the mutual good of all, and if we start trying to take things over they will come and stop us.
- The rest of the Universe is not actually the way it looks, due to whatever force is causing the Pioneer Anomaly.
Take your pick.

We are here to observe. Over the centuries, your planet was a curious place to visit once or twice and was not considered very interesting . Sure, your wars showed us how undeveloped you are as a species and your infantile,(in cosmic terms) dependence on god concepts does not bode well for you. We are now showing an interest in you because it is not often that we get to observe a species commit suicide. You are so close to maturing as a sentient species and it will be a shame to see you kill yourselves. There are just not enough of you becoming rational enough to force the issue. You let the least among you determine your fate, so be it.

They may have been "communicating" with us (crop circles, "UFO" sightings, alien abductions, cow mutilations, etc.) but the "signs" are written off as "not valid" or "lunatic fringe".

It basically is clever that existence does exists. And it makes much extra experience that they could be extra stepped forward than we are. we are an particularly youthful species in terms of the universe and basically a grain of sand interior the sea coast, drop of water interior the bucket. i've got faith in extraterrestrial beings...it fairly is much extra achieveable than issues like God case in point.

There are no such things as UFOs. We know who they are, where they come from. We have been in contact with them for over 60 years. The problem is that if it was in the open, the havoc on human civilization would be catastrophic.
Think of Cortes/Aztecs.
