In the past, people would gather and with faith and prayer, people would become healed, but those were not people from all walks of life. I mean, what if we had football stars, psychics, actors, artists, crazies, people who are best at what they do, join in prayer and spiritual healing and try to achevie a higher level ?

Energetic healing is a gentle and non-invasive method of healing. This stimulates the body's own natural healing ability and facilitates growth and self-awareness. Over a period of time, energetic healing can have a profound and exponential effect on how you live your life. http://www.astralcafe.com/eh1.htm

A work collegue of my mother believes in it, or at least in the healer she visited.

She lived in London years ago with her husband and two year old son. The little boy had severe eczema, which covered most of his body. She took him to the doctor, and tried every available medical treatment, but none worked.
She heard stories about this lady who did healing after mass in this Baptist Church. She was desperate by now to get her son something that worked, because he was in immense discomfort, so she was willing to try anything.
She took him to the church, where she met this lady, who was originally from somewhere in Africa. She said the woman was a tiny little thing, but she had a very strong, even fierce personality.
The lady told her and her husband to sit down, and took the little boy to sit on a chair on this platform.
She said she was half afraid to let him go up because he was quite a hefty child, who didn't sit still very well, and she could just imagine him kicking the shins off this lady. But he surprised her by sitting very still and calm, didn't squirm at all.
So anyway, the lady does the 'healing', by slowly moving her hands over his body. She did this for a few minutes, then lifted the child off the chair and told him to go to his mother.
When the boy started to walk, he was kind of staggering. His dad thought he looked as if he had had a few jars... But other than that he was fine.
No more than a week later, the eczema had totally cleared up.

I don't know if the healing worked, or if all the medical creams and things were what really cleared it up, even though they hadn't worked before, but my mam's friend believes it was the healing.

Now, this woman is a realist, shes not airy-fairy, and into all this new age stuff, and shes quite cynical about things like this, the only reason she tried it was because she was getting desperate for something to help her son, which she truly believes it did...

I went to a church, this one in particular just one time as it was a little bit INTENSE for me/ HARDCORE.
But after the three or four hour church session, Pastor / speaker, asked if there was anyone who needed anything.
And to come forward and ask for whatever they needed healed...
I had been experiencing some pretty severe back pain for about a week or more...
So I went forward.
I had a group of people/ Healers lay their hands upon me...they used prayer and ,"Laying on of hands".
They told me I needed to believe in the healing #1 for it to work and that it was from GOD not from man...
I said yes I believe all things are possible from GOD.
So I went home with the back still prettty much hurting about the same...
This was a Sunday ofcourse.
I wondered if it was true all day long if they, or God could/ would actually heal me.
I went to bed that night, still with a lot of discomfort.
I prayed about it, decided I had a little doubt, but decided to let it go as much was humanely possible for me...
I awoke the next day, Monday morning without an ounce of pain...No pain in my back at all when just the day before it was hurting to take a deep breath or twist at all..
So yes, DEFINATELY I believe in Peolpe who can heal...and have healing power/ energy.
I also believe in the DIVINE POWER OF GOD to heal through man.
So YES...
DEFINATELY believe in it.

Now I'm not going to use the word 'scientific' as that seems to cause anything to be criticised by religious zealots.

Studies into the effects of 'suggestive healing' show that it is not healing but actually temporary pain relief due to the release of eurphoric chemicals called endorphins. These are produced by the body and are used to protect the body from pain and stimulate it in response to 'exciting' stimulii.

Everytime you get a chill down your spine it is partially due to endorphins (in addition to adrenalin), when you feel happy from smiling, laughing, listening to music or recieving sexual relief, this is partially due to endorphins being released.

Accupuncture is also shown to be effective due to induced release of endorphins.

A good place for more information is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endorphin

Though I don't entirely slate the idea that energies can be used to heal, I do think that the idea is used excessively be people who exploit the general public's belief in it for profit.

Absolutely- Do an internet search on Reiki for just one type of healing that can be learned.

Scientifically disproven. Might make the sufferer feel better to know that someone cares, but real medicine is a lot more effective. Give me a real doctor - not a witch doctor.

Yes, there is a method of healing called Reiki. Anyone can learn it and it is not mumbo jumbo.

No. One need only look at the "results" of the Church of Christ Scientist to discover that faith may be a factor in healing, as are other emotional factors, but if one trusts one's cancer to such, better have the funeral arrangements pre-paid.
