Yes it was ... iv worked with dangerous Birds-of-prey for over 20 years , most wild , some captive bread....

I was put in Hospital by a Peregrine falcon (A Talon scratch gave me blood poisoning ) .... yet my Martial Eagle ( see pic ) that could have easily killed me at any time never gave me any trouble..! .
So yes its very ironic that Steve was killed by a Sting ray...and not a Crock / Big Cat ..etc....

R.I.P Steve ( may your God go with you )

Ironic to a small degree but if that is the case then any death not involving dangerous animals would be ironic. I think maybe being killed by a croc he had failed to notice would be more ironic - or maybe a scratch from a nature trip going septic and killing him or something really mundane like dying of the flu

I really tought he would of been killed by a snake or croc. I never would of thought about a stingray. A shark maybe, so I guess it is pretty ironic. What is really ironic is that it did kill him, only 3 stings in the Great Barrier Reef actually resulted in death. Go Figure.

In the first place it is still permissible to use the word "Pu55y" (so why does Yahoo have a problem with it). In second, and in answer to your question, no it is not ironic: it was obviously a dangerous creature as proved by the man's death. If he had died in Burger King or been run over by a number 9 bus then I think it would be fair to say that was irony in action. The man plays with lethal animals and got killed by one....why is everyone so surprised/traumatised.

it was just sad ,simple as that. A man died and left a wife and and kid alone. im sure he wasnt doing what he enjoys when that ray attacked and killed him. My only comment would be is that we dont live in the sea and so to say its a pussycat is just silly. He put himself in that situation and was getting well paid for it . My thoughts are with his family

It was very sad. I was reading in Yahoo news "after they released that his final moments were caught on tape" that Steve and some of his friends had actually talked about Steve being in his element when on land, but it would be the sea that would probably be his death.

Let us all keep his family in our thoughts and prayers.

Umm, not particularly. Ironic that it wasn't a croc that killed him, yes; in much the same way that it's ironic Princess Diana wasn't killed whilst prancing about a minefield.

Very sad though, top bloke.

Technically yes, it's ironic, given that he was known as a death-defying risk-taker around wild animals, but irony isn't always funny. I just felt sad about the news. One of my friends was smirking because he found it amusing, and I had words with him!

Not ironic at all. Steve swam with whales, sharks you name it.
He said he would die in the water because he wasn't as agile as he was on land.

You should watch re-runs of his shows. Stingrays dont sting.

He is dear to all our hearts and greatly missed.

he died doing what he loved. i don't think his death was really ironic, i mean, look what he did for a living. really it was only a matter of time until something like that happened. don't get me wrong, i feel bad that he's gone, but what did you expect? that's how he would have wanted to go anyways.
