Is Irans ultimate goal to bankrupt western nations by controlling the price of oil worldwide. When oil prices hit levels that western civilizations can no longer tolerate..will there be civil strife..government de-stabilization..perhaps even civil unrest. Will these events lead to Irans rise as the next Super Power..a Re born Persian Empire? What can be done to reverse the events that seem to be playing out in favor of Irans ultimate Goal? Should the U.S. engage the Arab oil producing nations to unite against the growing threat of Iranian domination in the Mid East. Shouldn't The U.S. convince the Arabs that it is more their fight than ours?

Iran doens't want to bankrupt the US. they are economically saavy enough to realize that would hurt them as well but they do want to squeeze as much money out of us as they can and create a hegemony over the Saudi penninsula at the very least. They have a goal of being a pre-emminent regional power and short of a war with the US they will likely succeed if they can use the Shi'ite minorities in Saudi Arabia to topple the government there which I think is a real possibility. The Saudis, Kuwaities and others on the Arabian penninsula are well aware of this already which is why they have "allied" with us. All alliances in the area are matters of convenience. There are no "good guys" just tools of realpolitik other than Israel of course which is a different situation but even there our goals are sometimes very different and I have no doubt that if it suited the USA we would sacrifice Israel to gain something. It would have to be a HUGE something but it's not impossible.

I don't know what the big deal is as we get 2/3 of our oil from Mexico and Canada!
Isn't it just great that we destabilized the region by attacking Iraq so Iran is the big boy on the block!! And we attacked them because our oil companies lost 3 contracts from Iraq to France and Russia!

i am sure they want to play a key role in middle east and possibly world.but have they succeeded?they started war in Lebanon just for drawing world attention from their nuclear program,they have made Iraq unstable so USA wouldn't be able to do anything about Iran,they are bribing Europeans ,as well China and Russia by giving them contracts worth millions of dollars.and the list goes on and on with every country in the world.
i think they have succeeded.

We did hear same things about Iraq few years ago and you can see what is hapening in Iraq. Remeber higher oil prices is for the intrest of US over Europe and Fare East

If Iran would want to bankrupt western nations it would be enough to stop giving them oil...Then so will Venezuela...And the entire world economy will crash...So,no Iran does not want to destbilize the world...

The Pres. of Iran HAS stated that his goal is to bring about total chaos, so that the "Moola(sp?) and return from the bottom of his well and rule the world. This statement has been on world TV. It has nothing to do with economics or politics. It is totally religious.
