Wait, you mean you actually ACKNOWLEDGE this...thing? I prefer active humiliation for the black sheep, the red-headed step child is abused through neglect.

Red-headed has nothing to do with it. It depends on how the child sees their relationship with you, their age, and the severity of the trouble. If you're a "newcomer" with a small problem of a older child, then leave it to the other parent. For a young child or one that considers you "dad" (rather than stepdad or your name), act like it was your own biological child. Less severe problems may only need a warning and more severe may require time-outs, chores, or the like.

I would think his/her punishment would be the same as all children whether they are read headed or not!
