There's a topical anesthetic called Topicaine that you can buy. It's not cheap, but it does work. You have to apply it about 30 minutes before waxing so that it numbs the area sufficiently, then you wipe off the excess. It's a gel, not an oil-based cream, so it doesn't interfere with the effectiveness of the wax.

Well, you can get hair removal creams that you apply and sponge off, which I assume would be less painful, there are alternative wax formulas out on the market claiming to not rip you skin, but I've forgotten their names.
My suggestion would be to leave the hair where it is.

...mmmmm i am a therapist and if there were such a thing id make a lot of money waxing! There are topical anesthetic gels on the market but are expensive and impractical...just avoid having a wax during or just before your time of the month as this is the most sensitive time of the month....otherwise just grin and bear it....

Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods.
Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful.

If you hold the skin taught it will help, because then only the hairs are being ripped, not your skin.

Other than that, not really. Any creams would affect the waxing so it wouldn't wrk as well. Ibuprofen will help.
