So I got my naval pierced back in april. Originally it was pierced with a captive ring but that was giving me probs--the top hole was pink and would just look wierd and crust up sometimes with white stuff and the bottom hole would leak (clear) sometimes and sometimes a red/pink bubble would pop out of the hole. Two weeks ago I went to a piercer and had her change the ring to a barbell. The top hole is just fine but now the bottom hole is wierd. It's like pink, puckered like and weeping. Sometimes this red/pink tissue bubble pops out and then crusts up. It don't hurt, it just looks annoying and gross. I just started using H2Ocean. Is it acting up just cuz it's getting used to the barbell? What's the longest a naval piercing can take to heal? I dont wanna have to remove it.

it can take around 9 months for a navel to heal, some people less some more. your healing sounded fine, and most likely the cause of these problems is that the jewelry was externally threaded-the threads were on the bar? this could've created smalls cuts in your fistual, the skin tube the jewelry sits in. It can cause problems but as long as your taking good care of the area and minimizing the abuse from bumps and clothing it should clear up before long. when in doubt go back to the piercer and have her take a look, seeing it makes a diagnosis easier

I've been piercing for over 15 years and the longest I've ever seen a navel take to heal is two years. A navel normally takes about 6-10 months to initially heal. If the H2ocean doesn't work for you, try mixing non-iodized sea-salt with hot, distilled water in a glass and submerging your piercing (by flipping the glass upside-down on your navel) every other day for a week or two. Don't mix the salt and water too strong, though. It shouldn't be any saltier than your tears. Also take a look at how you're wearing your clothes..Restrictive or tight clothing can cause a piercing to stay irritated as can certain types of material like nylon. If you have house pets that sleep on your bed (cat or dog) it could be an animal dander issue. Change your bedsheets regularly and try sleeping in a clean cotton t-shirt....And don't fiddle with it unless you're cleaning it!! The #1 cause of irritation and infection in new (unhealed) piercings is touching them with dirty fingers!!!!

I had the same problem as you, no matter what I tried to clean it or how many times I changed the ring it made no difference. I knew that I was allergic to any kind sterling silver, so the only thing I actually could wear is gold or white gold. I had mine changed and had no other problems. It healed but it left a scar, but the scar did go away. It does suck because you really can't find a lot of cute rings for your belly if it has to be gold. You might just have an allergic reaction.

I went through the same thing. I have had mine since I was 18 and I am now 27. So yes, it will heal. One of the best things I tried is crushed aspirin. Add a little bit of water to make it into a paste, and put it on your piercing. It helps a lot. Also while laying down fill your belly button with hydrogen peroxide. That helps too. Add a little bit of neosporin a few times a day. It will heal quickly!!

Mine took like forever it seems to heal. It was crusty all the time and gross looking. I would pour a little salt in a cup with luke warm water and then just hold it on the piercing. It drys it out but, it helps it heal faster. I constantly had to clean it. I also used this stuff they gave me to clean it. It seemed like forever but, I think it was like 3 or 4 months for it to heal. Even then it was sore sometimes. Just be sure to talk to the person who pierced it and make sure that its not infected. I had friends who were allergic to the jewelry so they had to be careful and sometimes had to use different stuff.

It's infected. And if u say u waited 5 months to actually notice something weird going on, i suggest u go to the doc's immediately. Its probably formed a keloid already (u should've removed it months ago). He'd probably give u some oral antibiotics and topical too (probably gentamycin) to apply on it. Did u have water-contact the first 10 days after piercing? That's usually the cause of the infection to set off.

Go swimming in the ocean. I'm allergic to nickel, so mine took a long time to heal. The first time I had it done, it took almost three months, and never really healed all the way, even then. I had it re-pierced, and the guy told me to swim in the ocean alot. He said the saltwater was good for it. It healed completely in about 4 weeks.

Good luck!
