If nothing is random, then our very thoughts and actions must be controlled by some prior cause, for example our genes.
This means we are like robots. Any arguments agaisnt this?

Life is like the run out of a computer program. There is a higher power. Within these limitations we have free will.

I don't believe we're robots. I believe to a certain extent that some things are predetermined, like death/life, certain life changing moments, having a baby. I think some of these have to do with destiny.

The free will is in the choices we make and the paths we take to get us to destiny.

For example: If you are in a maze, you know you will eventually get out (destiny) but how you choose to find the path to get out is your choice (free will/randomness).

Everyone has free will. Nothing is written in stone. I believe certain accomplishments are sure to take place but the final champion is far from written in stone.
I have a favorite proverb from the good book that says" Time and unforeseen occurrence befalls all man".

If we dont believe we are somewhat of a machine, try doing something that a machine can't do. As we are we have no free will. We must wake up. We are not one. We don't do what we do because we want to do it, we do it beacause we DON'T want to do the other. We are asleep. Sleep walking, we can do.
We are not what we are. We are what we have become.
We can grow, but much effort is required. Perhaps in time with much work we may have a taste of free will.

I believe we have free will to a point. It all depends on where we are in our life and what we've done before. Even the energy in the world controls what we do. Plus, with all the laws we have, that takes away most of our free will.

Our thoughts and actions are controlled by the way we were raised. I believe that nature and nurture pretty much have taken care of our " free will"

Events -are- "random" in the sense that there is no cosmic force that pre-determines their outcome. There is cause and effect and probability, but no fate or destiny. There... you have free will again. It's not your conclusion that's problematic, but the premise for it.

We do have a free will. The ability to make choices proves this.
