call the airline and cancel it. then the ticket should be good for another booking within 12 months. You can't get a refund but you can reschedule the flight to anywhere and get a credit for the next time you book a flight with that airline.

That is extremely difficult to do. There are only very exceptional reasons that an airline will let you out of it. One can be due to illness of the passenger or travel companion. Another can be due to a death in the immediate family. However, it is up the individual airline and most of them will not give in. However, many of them will allow you to reschedule your trip, or, use the ticket towards credit for a future flight, but there is generally a penalty fee involved.

There is no way unless you have a medical excuse or death in the family. You can't make that stuff up either - they'll require proof. It's not just the company who sold you the ticket - it's the airlines.

Call the issuing agency and beg. I did this with travelocity once and they were good about it. Generally, they will only do it once, so make sure you have a compelling reason.

go to the airport and sell your ticket to someone at a smaller rate.Take cash only.

The only way is not to use it. Are you able to transfer it though...If so you can then sell it on ebay.
