They were there during the most important times of our developing lives.
Doesn't mean you can't avoid making their mistakes.

nature Vs nurture.

Reproduction in the human race results in us becoming 50% of our mother and 50% of our father. We therefore are born with many of the traits they have, although they may be inactive.

As a baby we develop and in time, over the years, we learn most of what we know (excluding educational - school - matters) from our parents. we learn how to act, we learn manners, etc. It is possible, that whilst hanging around our parents for around 18years to pick up on traits that are not imprinted into out DNA such as the way we hold a pen, we also begin to like what our parent like. E.g. smells, and tastes.

However. some genes that we are naturally born with, are turned on and off in different environments, and can be turned on simply by sharing an environment with a parent, and therefore you begin to act like the parent.

A study on identical twins with a raging father was carried out in america. Both were adopted into different famillies. One when to a nice upper class family, with a placid father, another went to a middle class family with a father with a temper. (The natural father had a violent history).

At 16, the children, their adoptive parents, their friends, and their teachers were interviewed. BOTH twins had a dominant aggressive streak, pointing to nature to be the dominant factor in why were turn out to be clones

It has nothing to do with DNA.

Your parents preched their beliefs to you when you was a child. So they were your role model so you formed your way of thinking after them. If they did not like George Bush I'm sure you did not either because you only knew what they told you about him. Same for church. If they went to church and preached it in to your head then you believed that the way they did.

It is a form a brainwashing. Some people are able to break free from it but alot are set for life.

we dont neccesarily do, it all depends how connected we are and how the environment in which we live influences the judement(which comes through genetics) of that catalyst.. We do inevitably acquire some habits from our parents but thats just your brain reacting due to what it remembers how you should react.. For example if your parents swear when theyre angry, you may very well do the same, if they dont you may follow suit.. It all depends on how much contact and connection you feel with family that will decide wether you do eventually attain their habits

We were taught in A Level Psychology that its a mix between nature (i.e. genes) and nurture (how we were brought up). As a child, you are taught certain ways of doing things, your parents ways normally, so that with genetics means you turn out alot like them. Unfortunately for some!
Don't worry, I'm 25 and I get accused of being like both of my parents, though normally by the other one in an arguement!!

When I was 16 I initiated a preemptive strike and turned my parents into clones of me. It seems to keep them younger too.

Ha ha, That is funny, DNA. They may look like thier mothers but I think they are talking about thier habits and personality.

Which has more to do with the fact they grew up with them and learned thier habits.

But it is being debated. I wonder how they controlled for common Family enviroment. (More analysis then I want to go into)

that's easy.
From our first days of our lives we copy the people around us, so we know what we can do.
That's called learning.
Our parents are (hopefully) the ppl we see the most everyday so we copy the most of their behaviour, if we like it or not.
Lots of this copied behaviour doesn't 'come out' untill we are older, because we saw them doing that when we were lil' kids and when we've got the right age to do so as well, we will actually.
Everybody with little kids will tell me right about this one :-)

Hope this'll help

because they are the ones who bought us up and install our values and some of our trates in us. its nature v nurture some things are insticnt and some things we learn from the world we grew up, unfortunatly thats why we turn into semi clones of our parents we learn it!!

They may not mean to,but they do.
