this came to me this morning as a sort of waking dream...

At the top of the world, or so it seems
A country lane, all leafy green
The grass is high, it sways with the breeze
And birds sing merry, hidden in trees

You come upon a garden gate
And there beyond, as the day grows late
A cottage with a roof of thatch
And heavy apples hang from branch

Yet no road leads to this dreamy place
Just a path, from a leafy lane
And as your steps lead you homeward, slow
You feel uplifted, though your heart feels low

You feel joy for having been there
And saddness for a peace you may never find again

hope you like it, it reminds me of a place i went to when i was about 6 years old. please no nasty comments!

Hey thesingist,

Sing it, the rhymes take you from positive to negative - kind of like life. I like it. You can't go back - to your childhood is what it says to me - except in your memory.

nice enough

liked you saying:
--that it came to you "as a sort of waking dream"
--that it reminds you of your childhood
--that you politely hope for no "nasty comments"
