You should have a baby when you have a job that can afford it. Why go on welfare? They don't give you that much to live off, and you will be stuck in poverty with your baby? Is that any way to raise a child? Food Stamps and Welfare checks?? If everyone thought like you, our economy would collapse. Do the gov a favor and wear a rubber.

So you really want to bank on government paycheck as a means of raising your child?. This alone shows that you are too young and immature for parenthood. If you start at 16 to have sex & kids what would you be doing when you are 30 and 40, maybe go back to grade school?. You do not know what it means to be a daddy, so don't go there yet.

Everybody wants to have a kid of their own.

Some gets pregnant 'accidentally' and some are having a hard time conceving. But no matter what, having a baby is not just like buying a dog or a cat in your regular petshop and getting 'rid' of it when you don't like it anymore.

Have you asked yourself if you are ready like physically, mentally, emotionally and financially? If you answered yes to all of these then go ahead. You just better be sure not to treat your parents as nannies as having a child of your own is your own responsibility.

I'm a 23yr old male and until now, I don't have any plans on having a baby or a kid of my own. Cause I know that I won't be able to support my son/daughter; In fact, I couldn't even afford to support myself as of now and I'm not ready for the responsibility.

I'm not selfish and I'm not rushed.

I'm not selfish because I don't only think for myself and for the only reason that 'I want to have a child is that I could be a daddy.... period'.

and I'm not rushed because I have all the time on earth; I known - I have to be patient.

I want to make sure that when the time comes that I am fully decided of having a kid of my own, I want my kid to experience the best things that life has to offer and the things I haven't experienced growing up.

I sounds to me like your planning on having a baby so you can get government welfare???

Honestly at 16 you still have years to go to enjoy your life before you "settle down" - do you ever want to go out at night - go to the movies when you feel like it - party??? Forget it you cant with kids (unless you offload them to a relative??) It just doesnt work that way - you have a child you are responsible for its care, love, education, food, nappies etc etc its a never ending cost and trust me when I say that government payments dont cover everything if you think you can do this just on these payments you will struggle to pay the bills and keep on top of everything.

If your g/f is already pregnant well all I can say is congratulations for wanting to stick around - but go and find a job so you can support your soon to be family.

Well, I don't really agree with your point of view but if you can take care of a child (on your own, without government help) then that's great. But honestly, a person should be a lil more mature to be a good parent because it takes a lot of patience, love, and money. I know children are great and adorable but you have the rest of your life to have children...right now you should concentrate on figuring out who you are and what you want. Be selfish! Because when you're a parent, you cannot be selfish....not for one second.

i get where youre comin from but i think that starting a family is better when you re settled in a relationship and have the money to support you and a baby im not saying its to young hell im 15 and would love a kid but maybe people say abortion thinking of the mother remember they have to carry a baby for 9 months and if they are not developed enough they put themselves and the baby at risk

Being 16 years old is very difficult. Most 16-year-olds are convinced they are mature enough to make all sorts of decisions for themselves and those around them - including having babies. The truth (and you probably won't believe me on this.) is that at 16 one is far from being able to control one's own life or to make important decisions. At 16 a person is still not fully able to consider all consequences of his or her actions, and he or she doesn't have a fully mature ability to estimate a situation objectively (instead of subjectively.).
When you get older, I am sure you will be glad and relieved, you didn't have a child at 16 years of age.
Being 16 should be about learning who you are, forming your opinions, trying out aspects of adult life - such as dating, working, being responsible in relation to one self and one's friends etc. It should not be about caring for a new baby.
Besides, babies are not as cute and easy to care for, as one might think - a baby will wake you 2 to 8 times every night, will not understand that you are tired, want go out or watch a football-game on TV. A child will be with you every second of every day for many years to come. Don't you think there are a few things you want to do before that happens?
Best of luck to both of you!

The Government should not have to pay to take care of a child that someone decides to create by having unprotected sex. If you are going to not keep your pants on you should be man enough to get a job and take care of your own child! It should not be up to the tax payers to support your baby!
