She said last night she wasn't sure then showed a montage of how some other anchors have done it. I was kind of miffed that they didn't include Dennis Miller's famous sign off from Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live especially because they showed Ted from Mary Tyler Moore.

So what should Katie say or do or both when she signs off each night on the CBS Evening News?

I think Katie should say "That's what the world looks like for {month} {day},{year}!" Like "That what the world looks like for September 12, 2006".

Katie will settle into her own sign-off when she's ready.... I thought the montage paying homage to those who went before was a nice touch.. sorry they didn't include Dennis! ;-)

I liked Katie from before and I believe she'll be great once she settles in, finds her rhythm and realises she brings her own best self to her job.

She doesn't have to fill anyone else's shoes as her own natural love of and curiousity about people and life will add to what went before and bless those viewers who choose to watch her.

Perhaps her news program will add more of what there is to celebrate, more of the good in life rather than just the almost obsessive fixation on the 'bad and the negative'. Reality follows what we put our attention on, so if Katie can use the power of technology and her broadcast to help viewers focus on and expand the good that's everywhere evident, we will all benefit.

Power to you, Katie, for getting there. Be who you are and have fun while you're at it, girl! ;-)

"From New York, this is Katie Couric, thank you for watching, good night."

Of course, it would be cool if she tried to bring "good night and good luck" back to the masses. Of course, that would kinda look tacky.

She has alot of personality and sense of humor, but the national evening news chair isn't exactly the forum for such traits.

I think she did a good job. The only thing I don't like about her is her eyes. I never noticed how big and hollow they look.

Katie should sign off forever as she does not have the credentials to sit in that chair. Its not a talk show! say good-bye, Katie

Who cares? It's a job reading the news. I have no idea why this is such a big deal. She left one tv job for another tv job. Most evening news has been nothing but soundbites for the last 20 years I can't fathom the noise being made about this. Is it just the media that are going ga-ga over her? Do any regular people give a rats *** about "tv personalities"?

Each night Couric should apologize for dumbing down her viewer base by asking so many stupid and useless questions on the Today show.

I think she should walk over to a brass stripper pole, and shake her moneymaker. She could do a upside-down "leg-lock" and look straight into the camera and say "Let's see Dan rather do that! Goodnight America!"
