I've got a 93 S-10 with a 4.3 in it.I get about 19 around town and average 25 to 26 on the highway, loaded or empty. The camper style topper helps with wind resistance.A tonneu cover will help also.Put air shocks on it if you plan to tow.The stock shocks just don't hold up.

Well, the 4wd 4.3L was supposed to get 16-18 in the city and 22-22 on the highway. The 2wd 2.2L was supposed to get 19-23 in the city and 25-28 on the highway. But I couldn't find anything about a 4.3L 2wd.

Another thing, if you are concerned because you aren't getting the gas mileage you expect. It may be time for a tune up. Just change plugs, wires, everything. It's going to be more than a tank of gas, but it makes a big difference.

Be happy you have the S10 instead of the Blazer. We have one from '02 and we're lucky to get 20 MPG.

I had a '94 s-10 with a 4.3 and a five speed. The highway was 30-35 mpg if i did the speed limit and under 25 in the city.Great truck but you need to tune it regularly or the fuel economy took a dive.I also used synthetic oils.

Depending on the vehicle's condition and maintenance, and your driving habits, I'd expect gas mileage of 16-22 mpg from that truck.

That sounds about right. You are lucky to have the larger engine. I pulled a travel trailer with one of the small engines and it was hard going.
