Mohammed cartoon outrage in Europe? Where was the defense of free speech in these normally outspoken talking heads?

Yup - right on, it was all about respecting Muslim's taboo over depicting Muhammed... they are spineless twits, and they just cannot do the right thing no matter what. If there were a similar taboo in Christianity, they would be depicting God in every way, shape and form. They think nothing of depicting Christian sacred forms in any disgusting form that "artists" find to violate our sense of decency - so then, it's all about "free speech." Our mainstream media are gutless hacks.

actually as a person living in a Muslim country what I was upset by was the enormous fuss made by the media that led to riots and injuries. These cartoons were printed and reprinted all over the world specifically under the ideology of freedom of speech. I strongly believe in a persons individual right to freedom of speech and expression but I do fault the media for taking something that was small and isolated and adding fuel to the fire until it was a raging bonfire.

Also I do want to point out that though the cartoons content was not appealing to any of my Muslim friends what they found most upsetting was that Mohamed their prophet was depicted at all. This is forbidden and a great sin in the Muslim religion.

No not really surprised. After the outrage shown over two seconds of Janet Jackson's nipple, we learned that if enough people complain about something said or done in the media, the freedom gets sat aside for apeasement.

Why should it suprise anyone that the MSM didn't print it. They do nothing to offend the Muslims but when it comes to Christanity they think, well not really think, that it is ok. Seems to be a double standard here.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees this. The MSM does not even try to give the appearance of being unbiased anymore. They just let their liberal flag fly.

Fortunately, because they are so blatant in their politics, more and more people are noticing, and they are losing their power.

No. The real outrage was Iran's holocaust cartoon show.

I don't think it was cowardice, maybe they were trying to show a little, er., respect? I can't believe it either but for a change they may have been showing some tact in not printing the cartoons. I have to applaud them for taking that action.

Good point.

But no one rioted or killed when the MSM displayed a crucifix in a jar of urine.
