Compare yourself to him.
He did so much to give people like you a better understanding of wild animals like crocodiles.
Have you done anything as such ? How many people know you ? How many times were you on International TV doing shows like he did ?
Don't tell me that you never found his shows interesting and that they did not thrill you.
Also, for your information, he did not mess with " wild animals enough ". He was totally out of his element and was not among Crocodiles, animals he was familiar with. It was just a freak accident.
If you are jealous because of his greatness then its your fault that you cant be anywhere famous and very well liked him.

I am really sad about Steve's passing. I have never watched him on Tv or seen any of his shows but I know who he is because he pops up all over the place. I have never really had an opinion about him until now. Thought he was a bit of a twit, to be honest. I have only just found out, through reading the press reports about him and his work, just what an amazing person he was and I'm not talking about his public persona. He was not just an entertainer and a businessman but devoted his life to education and conservation. All that money he made, he has put towards conservation projects, not just in Australia but throughout the world. His foundation gives money to rescue Orangutans, asian tigers and lots of of other creatures and his zoo is involved in breeding programs for lots of endangered species. I had no idea. What a huge loss.

He did a risky job, but it was his life and his choice. he did marvellous things to bring awareness to many conservation problems and taught millions worldwide about animals. I think most people are upset because of his vitality and sheer love for the work he did, and it is very sad that he is gone. Most of all, he leaves behind a young family, and I feel that is the biggest loss of all, and perhaps the reason that a lot of people are upset. Many young men and fathers die every day in the terrible wars that plague the world at this moment, but thier deaths are not any less, nor are they felt any less. I think it just seems so, because Steve Irwin was such a public figure. Death, although inevitable, is always sad.

Because some people have a heart and feel empathy for his wife and 2 small children.
Because some people love animals too and enjoyed watching Steve teach people about animals, and work to save them for our children to enjoy.
Because it was such an unlikely thing. Of all the truly dangerous animals Stever worked with over the years, he finally got taken out by a sting ray? There have only been 18 deaths by sting ray EVER recorded. They're not generally dangerous.

I think people liked him. There is something that intrigues a lot of people where wild animals are concerned, and he was "crazy" enough to give the rest of us an up close look at them. It cost him in the end, and that is sad. Even more sad is that he leaves a wife and two young children behind.

Yes, he was definately asking for it by getting too close to all those dangerous animals. But, he was a very likeable fellow who had two small children and entertained countless more around the world. So, he will be missed. Even if you personally weren't a fan, alot of people really liked his shows and movie. And, he and his family always seemed so clean-cut and nice to people and animals. With a child-like excitement for the world around him, what's not to like?

What is wrong with you?! The man died!!!
He did not "mess" with animals! He educated us about them! He taught us that they're not just mindless man-eating monsters! Most importantly, he got people (especially kids) interesed in animals, which, you can't deny, is good. Sure, you might call him over-enthusiastic, but sometimes, that's a good thing.
Just a piece of advice: have a little respect for the man. (I'm not really a fan, btw, but hey, I was shocked)

and you don't think he knew that all this time that he was taking risks??????? Of course he knew that, but he put that aside to teach people about wildlife just like Jack Hannah. But Steve took bigger risks and knew the consequences. I admire his courage, would you get into a pit with crocadiles? I bet not, I wouldnt' either, but he did cause he had the courage and the knowledge. My condolences goes to his family and friends. And by the way, He wasn't stupid.

probably because he was so well known, and well liked. He made a big impact in the world, by purchasing land and conserving it. Plus..... He has 2 young kids and a wife that he absolutely adored. It"s just sad.
