I cannot say that there is really a top ten Natural OTC meds. OTC and natural are not the same thing. OTC are medications while natural products are in the category as food supplements. Yeah they are both available without prescription, but they are different. There are not any medications available over the counter for ADHD all those medications (prescription ones) with the exception of Stratera( not natural but not a stimulant medication) are similar in structure and activity to Methamphetamine (aka Speed) This is really 2 questions. The other question would be are there any natural products for the treatment of ADHD. I would say I am sorry I do not know.
I hope that helps you understand better. There are 2 sorts of products. One is over the counter medications and the other is dietary supplements. Unfortunately because the FDA got overzealous about trying to ban many things we got this vague and unregulated category of natural and other products. It really backfired for them. There are many legitimate products in this category, but some harmful ones. It is important to be educated on whatever you take from this class of medications and from what company you purchase them from.
I do not know anything about the ADHD category of natural products unfortunately.

This is a complicated subject. I recommend as references Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine - Murray & Pizzorno, and Prescription for Natural Cures - Balch & Stengler - for a good discussion of numerous alternative options. See also the chapter on Pycnogenol in Jean Carper's book Miracle Cures. Magnets have been tried with some success in small studies: See Magnet Therapy by Lawrence and Rosch.

I understand people's unwillingness to resort to medications. However, the truth is, there are no effective OTC or "natural" meds for ADHD. And homeopathy is a pseudoscience.
You are, of course, free to experiment and empty your wallet in search of a magic bullet. I have seen some children respond to strategies like the elimination of sugar and artificial coloring in their diet, so I'm reluctant to rule anything out. But from what I have seen of the disorder, the right med can make a huge difference in a child's success. At least three are commonly prescribed: Adderal, Concerta and one whose name escapes me. If you are dissatisfied with one, by all means try an alternative. Children respond differently. Good luck!

I'm interested myself
Chris B: If you suffered from it, you would know it's for real! ADHD affects the frontal lobe of your brain, which is involved in impulse control - the most common complaint of ADHD and ADD.

Everybody's different, and we all respond differently to therapies. It all depends on what your child's body needs to balance. All alternative and complimentary therapies work off of frequency. The frequency of his/her imbalance may be different than somebody else's and may not respond to the same treatment that others will.
I would strongly suggest that you find a naturopath. If you don't know one, you can find one at www.trinityschool.org. They have their graduates listed by state on their web site. A naturopath can help you find the best herbal combination for your child. They will also be able to recommend dietary changes.
A homeopath can also help. Soul Doctor on Answers gives free, accurate advice. If you'd like to see one personally and don't know one, you can visit www.homeopathy.org to find one near you.
I know people who have used aromatherapy, herbals, homeopathics, acupuncture, sound energy, Reiki, and crystal therapy -- all very effectively.
Good luck in your quest. I applaud your willingness to use alternative and complimentary therapies to help your child. Good Luck!
