If you're old enough to have sex and be pregnant, you're old enough to talk directly to your doctor and get the information you need. Getting hysterical and imagining the worst is not going to serve any purpose. Find out what you need to know from your doctor and go from there. You need to inform yourself with the facts of your situation. It's time to be a big girl!

HcG level is the hormone that the placenta releases to tell you are pregnant. They are suppose to double every two days for the first trimester in a single normal birth. If there are multiple babies, the level is significantly higher because the placenta is naturally releasing more. My sister had twins 3 years ago and her levels were very high on her first blood draw. I would say you are definitely pregnant (if you doubted that) and it looks like it could be multiples. You can have twins, triplets, whatever at any age. Sounds like an "accident" that may be around for the rest of your life. You need to check in with the doctor and see about getting an ultrasound ASAP. At 5-6weeks it should be clear how many sacs there are and even be able to see the budding of the baby (s). Check it out---worst case scenario--- you go to college while you are pregnant, have your child (children) and go back when you get the chance. It's going to be alot more difficult, but if its really what you want to do, stick with it and you'll find the way. Get family support and get ready!

Okay, first of all, HCG is the pregnancy horomone.

Now, yes, it is possible to have twins. Usually, having twins runs in a family (not all the time, but a lot of the time.). I would ask if there's anyone on your family who has had twins. Studies show that you have a much greater chance of having twins if someone in your close family did. It doesn't matter with the age - if you can get pregnant then you can have twins. I'm sorry that you're in such a tough situation right now. Has the doctor done an ultrasound? They can tell right away if there are 2 heartbeats. That's one of the most difinitive ways to know if you have twins.

There are support groups that can help with parents who are having multiple children. I would suggest asking your local hospital or your doctor if they know of any near you. I have 2 kids (not twins) and go to college. It's very tough, but maybe you can find someone who can help you to watch the kids while you're going to class or doing your studying. My family has been very supportive. If your family can't or won't help, the support groups I mentioned can also help you to manage taking care of your kids and finishing school. It's not easy, but not impossible, either.

Good luck with whatever you do!

Unusually high HGC levels can mean multiple babies, yes. It only takes once, and yes an 18 year old can have twins! Congratulations.

But don't hesitate to call your Dr. and discuss what he meant.

HGC is the hormone that your body produces when you are pregnant. It is what pregnancy tests test for in your urine, or your blood if you test at a Dr's or clinic.

Calm down. If you think you're pregnant, take a pregnancy test to be sure. The earlier you find out, the earlier you can decide what you're going to do. Age has nothing to do with the number of children you can have, but you are PROBABLY okay.

If you were safe during your one sexual encounter, you're probably worrying needlessly. A good website is www.sxetc.org --it will answer a lot of your questions, including a detailed description of how to use birth control and how to use a condom correctly. It will also tell you all the early symptoms of pregnancy.

Don't be afraid to ask your doctor questions. Don't be afraid to call and speak to a nurse or the doctor. This is important.

Find out exactly what are HGC levels are. 18 year olds definitely can have twins. Before you panic go to the drug store and get a good home pregnancy test.

Twins can be born to a mother of any age. I hope that things work out well for you.
Why didn't your doctor explain about the high hCG levels? hCG is the hormone created by a pregnant woman, and pregnancy tests work by reacting to the presence of hCG
