It depends on the type of car you have. Strictly speaking manual is faster than auto gear. Because you can accelerate and change the as quickly as you can and hence manual is faster. Auto gears you will feel it lethargic and it is installed to get more comfortable and fuel efficient ride.
In other words auto gear are meant to avoid unnecessary changing of gears.

Yes you can. However the costs associated with it really don't make it worth it. I would suggest selling the car and then using the money to buy the same model with an automatic transmission.

If you REALLY want to rip it apart and put in an automatic transmission, go right ahead. But it would probably be cheaper and more convenient to just buy a new one. (So I guess the answer is yes)

Everything can be done depending car type.

for example, if it is old 60's chevy camero not a problem

if it is modern day car like civic then it isn't wise - how much money and time do you have?

Yes you can. I wouldn't suggest doing it because it can be quite costly but if you really like the car and want to keep it, it can be done.

I did from auto to manual for my bimmer. is cost you, but depend where you get the part, and not stealership do it.

its possible but it has to be done by a professional and not you.
lots of labor and parts, very expensive
