well nothing will happen to your baby if you dont take typically offered cold and flu medication becoz it usually contains asprin whichis a blood thinner.

tell her she should rather dring warm tea with lemon, honey and ginger. it's an amazing sore throat soother.

bed rest and lots of fluids if she has a fever and paracetomol will be fine.

anything worse than this she should consult obgyn

dont worry the mothers body will look after the baby

peace be with you and your family

If she has a cold, make sure that she rests until she is better. I got a cold at twenty weeks pregnant, and I didn't rest- I ended up passing out in the fridge at Asda and had to have a first aider decide whether or not I needed an ambulance.
So, make sure you give your wife plenty of liquids, keep her blood-sugar levels up, and if you are concerned, as always, I recommend a visit to your doctor.
Good luck, and try not to worry so much, plenty of pregnant women have caught colds before now. My guess is that she'll be fine.

Well most pregnant women do get colds they just can't take most medications while pregnant. Only tylenol or stuff prescribed by her doctor. By the time the cold gets to the baby the mom has also given the baby the antibodies to fight the cold so it usually isn't as bad for a baby as it was for the mom.

No, don't be worried it's fine. I've even had sinus infections during pregnancy. I refused the antibiotics because that is probably worse for the baby than the sickness.

I ate a lot of grapefruit and if the air is dry I used a humidifier at night and drank lots of fluids. Keep up on the prenatal vitamins and tell her to rest. Make her some homemade chicken soup with fresh garlic, onions and of course any other veggies. Both chicken broth and garlic have antibiotics that help fight sickness.

Also pineapple helps dry out sinuses and rhinitus.

The cold won't hurt the baby the common medicines that you take to treat the cold could however so I would speak to your doctor or a pharmacist before taking anything and make sure that they know how far along you are because that can also have an effect on what you should and shouldn't take.

It is actually quite common for pregnant women to get colds.

The cold itself won't hurt the baby. Make sure any meds taken are cleared with her OB. There are very few pregnancy safe OTC meds. Keep watch for fever too.

You make it sound like she has a choice in the matter of whether or not she gets a cold....

It probably won't do any harm to the baby, but it does mean she'll have to suffer through it without benefit of any medication. If she doesn't have a cold yet, but is afraid of catching one, tell her the best things to do to avoid getting sick are:

1.) Wash her hands often, and

2.) Keep her hands away from her face.

Your wife and baby will be just fine. Call her OB, and she might tell her to take some Tylenol Cold. It doesnt hurt her or the baby. Call the doc first before taking anything!

I was 6 months pregnant and sicker than a dog. My regular doctor actually got out a medical dictionary to confirm a drug that could be taken while pregnant. I had a fever of 104, headache, chills, felt like death. There are only a few things that can be taken. Be sure to check with your physician before taking any type of drug.

If your wife has got a cold then your best off asking the pharmacist or your GP for some advice about what to do and what she can take.
