depending upon the type of ring. one is a tension release, where a small ball or similar fixture is held in place by tension, pulling back oneside of the ring should release the tension, becareful, the ball is very easy to loose track of. another type the ball or end will unscrew & the third type the end slides into the center fixture. be very careful removing any of these the first time as it can be very uncomfortable. be certain to hold the ring itself & not twist! reinseting new rings may be painful as well if you are not completely healed.

I suppose you're not going to be too happy at any suggestion involving cutting the nipple to get to it - presumably the people who fit these items also know how to remove them - have you asked them (or people in the same line)?

Use a small pair of pliers to spread apart the ring and the ball should just pop out.
I you are still unable to get it out get someone to help you as it is easier for them to get it out.

the ring will spread apart from the ball, use a pliers, and be careful.. its worked for me..i have a barbell now, its easier to clean and re-install..

Doesn't it have a way to unlock? Go to a piercing studio and ask someone to remove it. Don't hurt yourself!
