Armageddon for sure & 28 Days Later. That was pretty eerie. Of course there's always those old tried and time tested. Towering Infero, Twister, etc....& come to think of it....I really liked Twister, but then again I like a little humor with my disasters.

The Day After Tomorrow is a great film. The effects are amazing. As was the effects in Titanic when the boat sank. I also like The Poseidon Adventure (1976) starring Gene Hackman (not seen Poseidon 2006).

But I think my favourite disaster film is The Towering Inferno (1974) staring Steve McQueen and Paul Newman.

Loved Independence Day. This does class as a disaster movie doesn't it? Half of the world got blown up. Also Armageddon and The Towering Inferno.

The very best 'day after' movie I ever saw was "Threads." I'm almost certain it's an English film; I only saw it once. It's the most realistic movie about a nuclear disaster I've ever seen.

It would have been Independance day but it was spoiled at the end for me by all the God Bless America sabre rattling at the end of the film!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but apart from that not a bad film! But as I remember the day after tomorrow ends on a similar theme as do most action/ end of the world type films now !
