Is anybody, who has a degree, actually doing something with it? Or are we all just a bunch of 20 somethings doing nothing with our lives?

Nope. I have a degree in broadcasting and I'm currently an adviser for a finance company.

Any degree will help you get a job. Now, if you are looking for a retail or food service job, then it doesn't matter. But if you are looking for a job that pays more than minimum wage, wouldn't you rather hire someone with at least a 4-year degree than someone who only went to high school? Now, I have 2 degrees, but I work at a non-profit (for the experience and to add to my resume) so I don't make hardly anything. I recently had to get a night job to make ends meet. Which means I work over 60 hours a week to make what the average person would get working only 40. You gotta do what you gotta do though.

Why do you think "we are all just a bunch of 20 somethings doing nothing with our lives?" Why do you have to be so negative about it...

Yes, I know someone, my cousin-in-law, who had graduated w/ a degree, and is doing something with her degree though it's not exactly related to her current job. She's only 26, and she's a math high school teacher, before that she was a comp. programmer for a while. She said she has always loved math, and got a B.S. degree in Comp. Sci. w/ honor. Her husband, my cousin, also had graduated w/ Comp. Sci. degree, since during those days they were in college, comp. sci were common, popular, or hot (whichever is correct). Besides, she was very active in high school, did some data entry, had teacher's assistant experience while she was in college...So do you think her involvement may have helped her, too, to get where she is.

30 something. Yes, I used my degree last night. I wrote a "professional report" with my English degree skills for one of my consultancy projects. Without my degree I would not have been able to get into graduate school and I would not have been able to write very well.

Absolutely. My 2 predecessors at my job both had their degree - I do not. I have had the job 4 times longer than the better of those two and my boss has told me many times how much better I am at it, but I still make less money than them. Stay in school!

I'm a 30-something, and I could not be doing the job I do (and getting the salary I get) without my bachelor's degree in accounting.

The best scenario is a bachelor's degree with an internship in your major. That's a win-win!

Having a degree in whatever helps you get a job in the sam field. it doesn't guarantee you it though. I personally am not using my degree for employement but parts of what i learned to get my degree i used to get my job.
