a lot came more than 100 years ago while looking for economic growth .. at the same time they went to America ..... rather embarrassingly they were imprisoned during second world war .. they have been a cultural and gastric shot in the arm to all of Scotland

The answer is quite clear and straight forward.....being an italian myself I will provide you the answer, Italians started to immigrate into England initially but due to the high levels of racism perpetuated from English people Italians were forced to immigrate up to north in Scotland where they were able to find a much more friendly approach toward them from the local population, thus being able to establish themselves and prosper.....

When Rome was dominant over Britain the Vatican allowed many prominent families, to own large sections of land, when the Romans pulled out however towards the end of the Roman Empire's dominance, many Italian people stayed behind. They were particularly dominant in Scotland as there was little fighting compared to , as only the Woeds were in control. Even when the Saxons invaded the Italian community was still a dominant one due to the influence of the Roman Catholic Church.

In the seventeenth century, there was a fad in Scotland of keeping Italians as pets. After a while, their owners got tired of them and turned them loose. They've been a nuisance ever since.

during the second world war, prisoner of war camps were set up in Scotland, many of the prisoners settled there after the war ended
