It makes me feel comfortable to meet a 'reasonable' US citizen. That's FOR SURE the American government wouldn't have sent Boys down there if there wasn't anything worth. Are there're still people to think George really worries about Muslim minorities dying because of injustice somewhere in the Middle-East? C'mon! People are much more preoccupied by the scratch in their car's door they got yesterday than by the geopolitical decisions their country made in their name without asking them their opinion. I'm kinda rough I agree, but.......
You talk about the inside problems, such as New Orleans post-hurricane situation. So what? Mr President won't care about a southern city being devastated as long as it concerns mainly Black People. THAT'S THE WAY IT GOES IN AMERICA!! Be aware of it!!!
America suffers from a bad reputation around the world. And yet, it's not always been that way. A few years ago, America was still the place to be. The American way was THE model to follow. But nowadays, the table turned. People around the world DON'T hate blindly the Americans. They are only afraid by your brainless president who indirectly kills innocents because of an ignorance overload.
---<[I'm sorry my English is far to be perfect, otherwise, I would have been more explicit.. but I think in French, eventhough I'm NOT French.]>---
I guess you didn't vote for Georgie, simply cause you asked this question. And even if you did so, I know you feel regrets now.. and maybe even some kinda shame. Please don't. You couldn't have known.
I'm a "special case" in Europe cause I've been many times to the US where I got many friends. Well, that doesn't make a "special case" of me so far.. but I'm a WTC witness.
I was having my vacation between September 9th to 21st. Me and my best friend, we decided to spend it in NYC.. to relax somewhat (like we said before leaving home). So I found myself witnessing you-know-pretty-well-what-happened and guess what.. I cried. Empathy, humanity.. call it the way that suits you. Why? Simply cause I felt hurt in my Westernness(?). I told myself: what country's next?
You have to know I live in Brussels, Belgium which homes the NATO HQ (a perfect next target, if you see what I mean). At that very time (during the collapse) I asked myself: what's gonna happen geopolitically speaking in the forthcoming years? And the worst scenario occured: a Third Millennium Crusade... In other words: the most stupid term to be chosen to justify Mr President's strategic moves.
My best friend is a Moroccan Muslim from the 3rd generation of immigrants that found a social shelter in the EU and he TOTALLY disagrees (just like 99,9% of the Muslims) with the actual global strategy of the extremist Muslims. Those Al-Qaeeda guys don't represent all the Muslims. They're only a falangist part of the Muslim Community. It's not because a few thousand extremists are louder than the majority that it means the world is unbalanced.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I admit my arguments may have seemed a bit unstructured to you (and others) but I've got so many things to say that I just don't find the wright end to handle it.
So, in case you'd be wanting to have a 'constructive' correspondence with me: I'm your man. It would be a pleasure talking to you directly from e-mail to e-mail without being slaves of Yahoo. Drinking a beer 'n talking live together on any side of the Atlantic Ocean would be even greater, of course...
(Hope I won't be censored again...)
I feel sorry for them too. The thing is that Iraq wasnt invaded. It was a direct challenge to Saddam Hussein to remove him from power .. not to take over the country.
I know that there is all sorts of mixed feelings about reasons and causes and motives ..
All I will say on the subject is that I know an Iraqi who had ten .. yes TEN members of his family executed by the Saddam regime .. do you think he cares about the motives more than the fact that Saddam has been deposed .. no he doesnt .. he is just pleased that the country has a chance.
Additionally several people I know currently work in Iraq and they say from first hand experience that a lot of the 'trouble' in the streets is caused not by the day to day residents but by people they have never seen before (ie opportunists coming from other areas looking for a fight / to start trouble / to unsettle things for their own ends).
It is a complex issue indeed and there is no black and white answer to any of it .. lets just hope it is resolved soon.
Your feelings of sorrow are misplaced.
The United States has ousted a murdering tyrant and an oppressive regime and given the people of Iraq a golden opportunity to determine their own future under a government that answers to the people - rather than the other way around. It is time now that the people of Iraq decide whether they will stand up and fight for their rights and freedom or squander them.
I feel sorry for the people in America who have lost sons, daughters and other loved ones. I hope and pray it doesn't turn out to be all in vain.
I think all the countries should just butt out and mind there own business. If countries like Iraq want to fight amongst themselves, let them. Who do UK and USA think they are they want to look at their own before they muscle in on anyone elses. In my opinion, i am not interested in Iraq or anywhere else for that matter whilst the UK is on its knees, and also its never the decision makers who wade into these countries its poor young lads who don't know what the **** they are walking into to.......
I feel for Iraq too. America tried this **** with Vietnam, and failed. Looks like they didn't learn their lesson, and have embarked on Vietnam 2. To Britain's lasting shame, we got involved this time as well. The Bush administration has been one of the most disgraceful eras in US politics ever.
I don't think that Bush is trying to sort out the problems of Iraq, I think that he is one of the responsibles of the problem.
We all should feel sorry for Iraqi people. They had a stable life under a dictator, their leadership was accused of WMD, accused of working with alqaeda and everything was proved wrong. Now the Iraqi people are dying everyday by the Americans and killing each other...
