Chocolate reduces bad cholesterol. Dark Chocolate is better, because there is less added sugar and less whole milk (which increases bad cholesterol). In fact, my doctor recently recommended dark chocolate in my diet.

Bits I've stolen from various articles on the web:

[ Eating one hundred grams of plain chocolate boosted volunteers’ antioxidant levels by almost 20%, while eating milk chocolate or drinking milk while eating plain chocolate did not have the same effect ]

[ Flavenoids are the same chemicals found in red wine and have been found lower LDL cholesterol (low density lipoproteins, “bad” cholesterol) levels as well as exert a protective effect against coronary heart disease. ]

[ Chocolate contains high levels of certain chemicals, called phenolics, which are antioxidants and might interfere with the oxidation of LDL," LDL cholesterol is the "bad" form of cholesterol that clogs arteries, contributing to heart disease. ]

I would like to point out that chocolate is toxic to non-human pets. Dogs are usually affected more often because they have a sweet tooth (like drinking anti-freeze. Sheesh, great survival instinct, boy). Onions, grapes/raisins and other things I forget are also toxic. Here's a short dry technical article about the chocolate toxicity:

it only works if you eat chocolate that is at least 60% cacao - no milk chocolate or regular candie bars, you've got to find the good, gourment dark chocolate - too bad, that just happens to be my favorite :)
