Salt only adds pain. It has no relevance to healing anything. However there is an over the counter cream called 'abreva' that you can find in any pharmacy or even walmart that is a healing agent as well as a preventative for when you first notice a canker sore coming on.

There are several things you can do. Gargling your mouth with luke warm salt water will help. Keep it in your mouth for a few minutes. Also products such as oragel and kank-a are great pain relieving products.

But hands down the best product that I have used to heal fast is Colgate Peroxyl, it is a mouthwash. It does not relieve any pain, but super speeds the healing process.

Good luck!!

Your just going to irritate it more. Go to Walgreen's or CVS and get some canker sore medicine. You put it on once in the morning and again in the evening and it will be gone in a few days.

I recommend a good high potency multivitamin-mineral daily.
Peroxyl mouth rinse (Colgate) works really well and does not make you stick the ceiling when you rinse the mouth with it. (:
Finally, all my references recommend DGL tablets (Health foor stores have them) dissolved in the mouth 3-4 times daily. They are good for gastritis and stomach ulcers too.

I haven't found that ot work. Use peroxide instead, but remember not to swallow it. Also there is a product called Kankaid out there that helps to numb the area.

no, it won't, it'll just make thing worse, you need to drink a lot of water and vitamin c, don't forget fruit and vegetable as well, you'd better avoid fast food like fried chicken or french fries for a while, good luck.

salt will only irritate the wound. there is an OTC cream you can apply, Wal Mart sells it, just check with their pharmacist.
