Many hispanics have lost their lives fighting for this country because they value it and the people within it. The spanish culture influences a variety of areas such as music, food, language. Most languages are rooted in Latin. It is always good to learn about other cultures if we expect the same consideration when we visit other countries. Differences are what makes life interesting.

Simple answer: Because many hispanics live in the United States, so their heritage and culture are part of US heritage and culture.

It's important to learn about any heritage and culture, whether it's hispanic or another. That way people won't be ignorant about different cultures and produce sterotypes. Nothing wrong with learning something new, doesn't mean you will become one, or loose your own heratige or culture. It may make you a more open minded person.

Because you learn about your own culture and heritage by studying others.

Same question when Hispanics have to learn about Martin Luther-king, Roosevelt, Washington, etc., in their countries. The more you learn, the more you know.

I don't think it is. But I admit I'm narrow minded when it comes to other cultures. I'm perfectly happy with the one I have, and from what I've seen, many other cultures just oppress the women. So I have no use for them.

Even my husband isn't interested. He eats mexican food and has dark skin, but that's the end of it.

Because you need to know who is undeservingly getting your tax dollars by being here illegally and getting all the benefits that us working class tax payers are paying for.

It isn't, I'm not from Spain or Mexico and don't really care a whole lot about the culture. Why do we have to learn Spanish in school? Because there are too many people in the US that don't know how to speak English. (yes I can see the thumbs down already, but hey, it's true)
