Many are willing to give their own lives but not to take the life of another; Is anything so important you would sacrifice your very soul for it?

No. I would sacrifice my LIFE for my children. Those who sacrifice their "soul" for others are known as codepenent and only end up harming themselves AND the person they were trying to help. Life is designed so that there is a proper way to be of service to others and in so doing one strengthens their own soul. To me sacrificing your soul implies becoming soul sick or empty. This is simply selfishness disguised as concern for others. Destroying ones self is never of service to another. Risking your life and even losing it for others should not be confused with sacrificing your soul. The good book says "There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for another" It does not mention the selling of your soul in a positive or effective way ever. There are in fact many people who DO sacrifice their souls for things they have deemed to be more important to them whether they realize it or not. Drug Addicts, Alcoholics, Sex Addicts, Pornography Addicts, the Power Hungy, etc. You can add to the list anyone who has put a selfish desire ahead of true service to God. Yes even service to others can fit on the list if that service results in an emptying of one's soul rather than a building up of it. Consider Ghandi, Mother Teresa, and Paul of the New Testament all as people who served others in a Godly way that resulted in the building up of their relationship with God (or soul). I will not give you examples of individuals who served the needs of others in a way that led to their souls being emptied and destroyed, but I'll bet you can think of some on your own. When my children are older and if they make decisions that tempt me to abandon all of my principles in a vain attempt to "help them" I pray that I will have the faith and courage to stand pat and allow them to experience the pains of their decisions. I know that if I am strong enough to do that, they will be better served in the long run. My love for my children is the only thing that scares me where your question is concerned. I know it could be a terrible temptation to turn my back on God where they are concerned, but I also know that in so doing I would be destroyed and it could lead to the destruction of my children as well. I need the Serenity Prayer just from thinking about it!

Funny I seem to think my soul and my life are separate. If I was to give my soul for something than I don't believe in anything anymore so how could I perform what I gave it away for??? If I knew they (children) would be taken care of by someone else and I "had no choice" then I would. Putting my life on the line for the good of others gives to my soul, not the opposite, imo.

I couldn't sacrifice my soul if I wanted to because it's been purchased and paid for and belongs to the Lord Jesus. I would give my life for my daughter and other family members but I can't give what is no longer mine.

Yes... my children and my wife. I would die for them without hesitation.

But for material things, never. I'd prefer to live for as long as I can no matter how hard life may become than sacrifice myself for something less than my own family.

Your soul doesn't actually belong to you in the first place, so you don't have the ability to sacrifice your soul.

Since the soul is a myth a million bucks would be nice, or 10 million.

God required animal sacrifices to furnish short-term forgiveness of sins and to foreshadow the appropriate and finished sacrifice of Jesus Christ (Leviticus 4:35, 5:10). Animal sacrifice is an significant topic discovered during Scripture because of the fact “without the laying off of blood there's no forgiveness” (Hebrews 9:22). whilst Adam and Eve sinned, animals have been killed with the help of God to furnish outfits for them (Genesis 3:21). Cain and Abel delivered sacrifices to the Lord. Cain's grew to become into unacceptable because of the fact he delivered fruit, on an identical time as Abel's grew to become into ideal because of the fact it grew to become into the “firstborn of his flock” (Genesis 4:4-5). After the flood receded, Noah sacrificed animals to God (Genesis 8:20-21). God commanded the country of Israel to accomplish distinctive sacrifices in accordance to particular procedures prescribed with the help of God. First, the animal had to be spotless. 2nd, the guy offering the sacrifice had to perceive with the animal. third, the guy offering the animal had to inflict dying upon it. whilst finished in faith, this sacrifice provided forgiveness of sins. yet another sacrifice referred to as for on the Day of Atonement, defined in Leviticus sixteen, demonstrates forgiveness and the removal of sin. The severe priest grew to become into to take 2 male goats for a sin offering. between the goats grew to become into sacrificed as a sin offering for the folk of Israel (Leviticus sixteen:15), on an identical time as the different goat grew to become into launched into the desolate tract (Leviticus sixteen:20-22). The sin offering provided forgiveness, on an identical time as the different goat provided the removal of sin. Why, then, can we now no longer furnish animal sacrifices right this moment? Animal sacrifices have ended because of the fact Jesus Christ grew to become into the spectacular and proper sacrifice. wish that's what you have been finding for..

I don't know. Didn't Jesus do that on the cross, so we would never have to? I would probably sacrifice myself, it it meant everyone on earth being saved.
