Drywall (also called wallboard, gypsum board, GWB, and plasterboard) is a building material consisting of gypsum formed into a flat sheet and sandwiched between two pieces of heavy paper. As of 2005, it is the most common material used globally for the construction of interior walls and ceilings. [citation needed]
Some common brand names of drywall are Tablaroca, SHEETROCK [1], Gyprock [2], and ToughRock [3].
In French, plasterboard is known as "placoplâtre", a brand name, or more briefly as "placo". The French company Lafarge is a well-known manufacturer in Europe.

Drywall is a generic term, to distinguish it from plaster (which is applied as wet slurry but dries to a hard finish.)
Sheetrock is a trademarked name for the drywall product made by USG (US Gypsum Corp.)
Many other companies make drywall with their own brand names.
