South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Lesotho and Malawi in southern Africa because these countries are beautiful and well-developed for tourism.

Kenya and Tanzania in east Africa for the same reason.

Ghana, Mali, Senegal in west Africa - not such easy tourist destinations as the others mentioned above, but beautiful and interesting and safe.

I have visited all the above countries and can recommend all 100%.
Unfortunately I have only travelled sub-saharan countries within Africa, but if I had the chance I would visit Morocco and Egypt in north Africa.

Two people tell you to go to South Africa and wax lyrical about its beauty but what they do not tell you is that it is extremely unsafe to go there because of the very high incidences of violent crime. Tourists are targetted by gangs of criminals as they arrive at the Airports and subjected to armed robbery etc. Outside of Columbia the murder rate is the highest in the World and women in South Africa have a 50% chance of being raped in their lifetime. It is criminally irresponsible for these people not to talk about the dangers of going there and you should look at the site www.crimexposouthafrica.org before you make any decision.

South Africa! It's definitely the most beautiful country in the world! 12 culture groups, 4 ethnic groups (black, white colored, indian), 11 official languages = very diverse! SA people are generally very friendly and helpful ;) It's a mix of Africa and first world... and our infrastructure is very good. CAPE TOWN is the best tourist destination in Africa, the Middle East, North and South America according to readers of US mag Travel and Leisure in their 2006 survey... so it's a marvelous place!

Whichever classification is used, some 10 percent of the world's flowering species are found in South Africa, the only country in the world with an entire plant kingdom inside its borders: the Cape Floristic Kingdom contains 8600 species, 68 percent of them endemic, with the largest variety of plants per square metre in the world. The Cape Peninsula alone boasts more plant species than the whole of Great Britain. The Western Cape has the longest wine route in the world and Hermanus (100km from Cape Town) is the whale-watching capital of the world. Table Mountain in Cape Town is one of the seven wonders in the geological world. Standing at just over 1000 metres, it dominates the skyline. Table Mountain can be seen as far as 200 kilometres out of sea. There are more mountains in Cape Town than hills in San Francisco ;) Cape Town has also one of the best 14 amusement parks in the world as well as the biggest shopping centre in the Southern hemisphere (more than 400 shops!). Cape Town is also the Mother City with a facinating history. You can also visit Robben Island here where Mr Nelson Mandela spent his years in prison.

Then the Kruger National Park in SA has the largest concentration elephants, giraffes and lions in the world as well as the best hotel.. SA also has more mammals than North and South America combined.

Then the 2nd highest waterfall is here, the longest cave sequence, the 3rd largest canyon, the highest bungee jumping spot, and more than 50% of paraglading records have been set in South Africa

So all in all, SA is an amazing tourist destination and I can recommend it to anyone!
