If you are working out, it takes about 24 hours to heal. If it's something more serious like from an accident or injury... I guess it would all depend on the severity.

Depends on what you did to it. I crashed very viciously on my bicycle one night when I hit a new curb in the middle of the road. I went over the handle bars and somehow I was pretzeled with the bike when it was all over. Back then I was really in to having solid muscles in my body. I never casually cruised on by bike or walked up stairs. I kept it in the highest speed and rode my hardest and when my muscles were burning, (yes, I was a little crazy about it!) I would ride harder. Anyway, when the paramedics came and got me, I was crying. They though I was in pain, and yes I was, but I showed them my thigh through my white jeans and they could see why I was upset. The entire muscle area in the top (from Knee up) of my leg was torn into three sections. THRASHED!!! The doctors orders were to stay off my leg for at least a week!! NO WAY!!! As soon as I got outside the hospital, I started stretching my leg and working it out. As bad as the injury hurt, little by little I could feel the relief of it healing because I didn't baby it. In my opinion, babying a muscle injury can be a real setback for staying in shape and it can cause it to take much, much longer for it to heal also. I'm not a professional but wouldnt you think the muscle will have lost most of its tone and firmness if it were to heal that way?
So as far as your question, it's totally up to you as to how long it will take a muscle to heal.

Depends on the severity of the tear or injury. Unless you are more specific cant help you more. If you simply pulled it a couple of weeks rest and good stretching should do the trick.
