I don't understand why they would let Nextel Cup drivers take the spots in Bush series that could be for new drivers starting out. The Cup drivers have already had their big break!

Now that there are less test dates for cup and the fact that the Busch cars are so much closer to cup cars than 10 years ago
most of the cup drivers are using this as a test session for their cup cars.
Some of the sponsors want only certain names to run the car they are sponsoring and the bigger the name the more money for the car owner.
Yet other drivers this is just a paycheck.
Then there is the "experience" deal. The ones that say the Busch drivers need the experience from the cup drivers. That's fine but some of the Busch drivers are veterans that choose to run these cars at that level. The cup drivers become the "school yard bullies" and don't teach how to handle a car but runs over the younger driver and blames the younger driver for the incident.
But if the cup drivers want to run Busch that is fine, but there should be limits.Cup drivers can run 5 Busch races a year with no penalties, after 5 races Busch points are deducted from their cup points. If a cup driver is running and wants to run for the Busch championship her is not eligible for the chase or the Nextel cup championship.
I'll get off my soap box and let some one else answer.

I think that Nascar needs to put a limit onto how many Busch series races that a Cup series driver can be in. I'm sorry but why in the world is Kevin Harvick in the Busch series trying to win the Busch series championship when he's been in the Cup series for like 4 years now.

I could understand if you are new to the Nascar like David Gilliland, Reed Sorenson, Clint Bowyer, etc. but when you've been in the Cup series for around 5 years now you have no business doing the Busch series full time. The Busch series is for up and coming drivers to get experience not for "veterans" to show off and ruin things!!

The "Buschwackers" as the Cup drivers are called now are taking away the spots from the smaller teams who cannot compete with the bigger teams such as HMS, Roush Racing, RCR, etc. Plus, the Buschwackers are messing up the championship. If you look at this season, you will see that only two Busch series regulars have won races. All of the other wins have come from Cup series veterans.

If the Cup series veterans want to run in the Busch series full time and win the championship in the Busch series then they should not be allowed to run for the Cup series championship as well!!

Nascar needs to do something about this....NOW!!

NASCAR isn't going to out right forbid the Cup drivers from racing in the Busch (not Bush) Series. NASCAR has always maintained that they operate on a free enterprise system where anybody can race in any of the Series if they are competitive. With that in mind, they aren't going to stop a team from hiring a Cup driver because they really have no control over those types of things.

I personally think that the Busch Series will suffer, but that's part of the game. Maybe things will change with the Car of Tomorrow because the advantages of racing in the Busch Series will not be as great as they are today.

True, the Nextel drivers are probably better at racing in a sense...or are they? It seems like an equal 50/50 chance that either a rookie or a Nextel driver wins a Busch race...and the same goes for Nextel cup racing (remember Denny Hamlin winning Pocono?) It seems like whoever has the winning car, team, and skill will win...if it's a rookie or a nextel driver who is more experienced. It keeps older drivers on their tiptoes and forces them to be on top of things...and it helps rookies get better and maybe catch on to the "pro" tricks. So, Busch series is great for rookies and non-rookies!

You know it is easy for me. I think it should be allowed IF the Cup driver is sponsoring his or her own Bush car. Keven Harvik is paying for his ride and more power to him for winning so much this year. Unlike the Heindrick and Roush cup drivers who have big money behind them to build and test a car and can win more often. There are still a lot of Bush drivers out there who are trying to get into the Cup series and do not need to be crushed week after week by a fully funded team that has several cars on the track.
It is a hindrance to the sport for that to continue. Especially with all the new teams in the cup series next year... 3 Red Bull Toyota cars, and several others. That means more drivers are going to be needed to fill all the cars.
I think if a Cup driver wants to race Bush series... Go for it. But do it on a level playing field. New drivers need experience with the "big boys" true, but on a even setup. There are a lot of under funded Bush teams out there that show up week after week and could be better but when 10 Cup drivers place in the top 15, it looks bad and is not all ther fault.

I totally agree with the above!!!
Something needs to be done about the cup drivers coming in and taking over the top spots. I understand it does give the busch drivers a chance to compete with the best. But there should be a limit to how much cup drivers can compete in the busch series. They are coming in with more money, better cars...it is not exactly fair.
If I want to see cup drivers, I will watch a cup race.

I sure don't think that NASCAR is ALL about selling beer that's for sure. There are other sponsors as well. As for the Bush races with Cup drivers in it, don't you think these new drivers appreciate having to run with some of the best drivers out there? It helps them learn to be better drivers. I don't believe you would hear any of the Bush drivers complaining about running with the older more experienced drivers. It helps them get their edge and helps them with their confidence when they do get to the big races.

I have so many theories on this and can't really come up with one solid answer so here goes my rambling:

First, I am pretty tired of seeing them dominate. I mean, to say OMG Kevin Harvick has got a tremendous lead in this points series. Well, yeah, I would really hope so. I mean, it's like sayng OMG this 35 year old can really pummel the heck out of this kindergartner during wrestling. I mean, hello, you're talking a seasoned driver with a crapload of money in the team..so yeah, I would have to laugh if they didn't dominate. SO let's stop making a big deal about it.
I also agree with the theory that it's time to give these up and coming driver's a chance.
However, these Cup boys help bring in money to the Busch series. People want to rub elbows with the big boys, and will do so in any way they can. I think you woud seriously see the Busch series struggle if there wasn't the added money from having the Buschwhackers in it.
I also have this theory that if you can't run with the big boys Saturday night you aren't going to be able to do it Sunday afternoon either. Driving is either something you have or you don't. Now obviously you will get better as you learn more throughout the years, but wouldn't you be kind of thankful to get some practice with the boys you're going to be running against??
Now, with all of that being said.. I think it's time to stop letting them run for the championship. Fine let them win points, win races, and money..But that's where it should end. I mean, they can be listed as havin the most points, but the championship should be awared to the first Busch baby. Esp when you are talking about guys contending for the Cup championship. Busch champions make names for themselves, and well at the rate this year is going Kevin Harvick already has a name..so kind of pointless. Only exception to this theory is that of the rookies. I feel that in your first full rookie year in cup you should still be able to run the Busch series full time for everything, points, and championships..but then after that.. it should go to the other way.

There is the theory that we should limit who can run, how many can run..or whatnot. It woud be a good idea, but I can guarantee most car owners are going to throw in a Cup driver any day. I think it should kind of follow the theory of go or go home like they do in the Cup. The top X amount of cup drivers are allowed to run depending on their qual time, and the rest go home. So like say they set the number allowed to enter at 10 (b/c there aren't as many Busch drivers as their are cup..so 10 is a decent enough number that still allow Busch only to enter too) so anywho, if there are more than 10 cup drivers..then only the top 10 qualifiers of the cup driver's get to race.. no full time busch team should be knocked out b/c you have a cup driver who occasionally gets in the car. you have the ones that run it all the time, and then you have some who just go every now and then..
however, this would create a problem on incidents like this week in which the long haul that would have prevented the cup driver's from actuall doing the qualifying.
i have a feeling after enough becomes enough nascar will regulate something a bit..you're also getting to a point that driver's who drive for different owners are starting to wage what is more important (i/e tony stewart.. he has committments to joe gibbs and home depot.. is one or two races in the harvick old spice car for an occasaionaly busch race worth all of that??)

it rather is a few thing human beings have been arguing for years. There are experts and cons to it...particular, the Cup drivers do take in rather some spots...yet on the comparable time, inspect the journey the Busch regulars get with the help of racing with the vast boys. to not point out...whilst it comes precise right down to it, it fairly is all with regard to the money. If not for the Cup drivers racing interior the Busch series, viewership could probably drop dramatically which potential buhbye to the promotion dollar to boot through fact the exposure that many of the extra youthful adult males get from racing with the Cup adult males. And too...think of roughly it this form...if Cup adult males are stored out of Busch, does not or not it fairly is truthful to declare Busch adult males won't be able to race in Cup making them pick one or the different.

I think NASCAR allows it because the majority of people who come to the Busch races only come because the NEXTEL guys are racing too. But I agree, it is hard for the new guys to get anywhere when they got all the pro's in there racing with them.
