If you're a Beatles fan you must visit the Beatles Museum! There is also the Yellow Submarine nearby.
As far as night life, I found this info:

Liverpool's shopping centre blends a mixture of well-known High Street names and quirky independent boutiques. The city centre's newest shopping district, the Met Quarter, is home to MAC's only store outside London, plus a host of designer names including Armani, Prada, Gucci and Moulten Brown - not to mention the longest sculpture in Europe. Try Cavern Walks for Liverpool's stylish independent boutiques Cricket, Vivienne Westwood and Bardot.
If you can avoid shopping till you drop, a night on the town is not to be missed. Liverpool's reputation for unforgettable nightlife was built on the back of the Cavern, and later Cream. Today the converted Polish church Alma de Cubaprovides a stunning evening's entertainment, while the award-winning Chibuku Shake Shake has proved our latest international success.

HEY Im sick of people saying Liverpool is full of theives and "muggers". Im from Liverpool and I've never stolen a thing in my Life. I'm sick of being tarnished with the same brush, everywhere has their bad share of people its not just Liverpool. Ignore these people please.

I love Liverpool and as I've lived here all my life I take it for granted, theres loads to do.
Maritime Museum
Walker Art Gallery
Museum of Liverpool life is great tells you all about the football teams and everything.
The night life is great you should try Matthew Street, Concert Square and Bars around Dale Street.
The best shopping Place is Church Street its the main Stretch of shops in Liverpool with side streets full of shops leading off it.
Also try the Albert Dock its my fave place in Liverpool its great.
Also Anfield the home of my team Liverpool FC. Visit the ground as hopefully we're getting a new one soon and that will close down.

Liverpool's great. You'll love it! I'd highly recommend the Walker Art Gallery not far from Lime Street Station, and the Tate Liverpool Gallery and the Maritime Museum near the docks. There are plenty of lovely restaurants and bars both in the city centre and around the docks. There are also loads of shops, although not being an avid shopper myself I'm unable to enlighten you further on that one

Church street is the main shopping street and all the other roads run off it , you should go to cavern walks and the metro centre. Its a pretty compact centre so you can find most things within a couple of minutes walk of each other . Same with the nightlife, most people go bar hopping live music everywhere around cavern walks. you should have gone last week it was the Matthew Street festival hundreds of live bands over three days - it is on every year on August Bank holiday.

Church street and the albert dock is best for shopping go to the cairns brewery you get a free pint on the tour. Go to the carling academy for live music but its dead small. Theres the maritime museum and the tate modern and all that stuff, plus theres the 'cavern club' but it's not the original, it's a big fake, its just on the same street.

Try this web site, it's our local newspaper:

http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/events/

or

http://www.visitliverpool.com/site/liverpool-in-a-day/shopping

There is lots to do in Liverpool, you've got the Albert Dock, The Beatles museums, the Walker Art Gallery, the football grounds, it just depends what you are into.

For shopping just head into the city and you can't move for shops, there's Bold St, Church St, St Johns Market and now we've got the Met Quarter for your big designer labels.

Try this website for gigs in the area:

It's great you'll love it.

No offence intended but if you have any choice in the matter I would avoid the city like the plague. It really is the most God awful, vile excuse for a city. Its has a huge air of failure about the place. Most other cities manage to improve and renew themselves but its stuck in a time warp and never changes. Every-one you see looks so miserable. They never shut up about the Albert Dock and its nothing special at all. I agree with a previous comment and think you should go to Manchester. Outside of London its the most exciting city in England!

Theres nothin in Liverpool. Its boring and rubbish. Go 30 miles down the road to Manchester instead. Coolest city in the U.K. ;- )
