The greatest myth about femininity is the polarization of the sex. Women are either idolized and put on a pedestal or deemed unworthy or a whore. Often the two extremes are labeled as the Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene. Throughout history women have been considered one or the other. The "good" women are virginal, need to be protected. They are the objects of romantic love by admirers but are untouchable (i.e. lady Guenevere / Sir Lancelot). If women are "bad" they are not worthy of love. They are often labeled whores or sluts. This is true in many cultures and we still see it today. How many girls have gained bad reputations in high school for having sexual relations. We still find it hard to see women as complex, unique individuals that can earn respect but also have weaknesses. Society has accepted this in males for a long time. Think of recent sex scandals with Jude Law and Hugh Grant. Had these things happened to actresses like Reese Witherspoon or Julia Roberts would their careers ever recovered?

There are organic and organic matters we face precise now yet in addition the leftovers from the organic disaster feminism that swept contained in the direction of the country basically some short many years in the past. "Few of those scholars had study Betty Friedan's the female Mystique or different feminist classics. basically a handful had joined the campus women human beings's communities. It did not count. Their technology had presented the laboratory mice for the social experiments of the previous twenty-5 years. they had grown up with working mothers, day care, and no-fault divorce...the scholars I interviewed had neither observed nor rejected feminism. extremely, it had seeped into their minds like intravenous saline into the arm of an subconscious affected person. They have been feminists without understanding it."

These days we often hear people talk about how "soft" the country has become by describing it as "the feminization of America".
This implies that weakness, lack of toughness, being guided by emotions rather than intellect, inability to make difficult decisions, and any number of other unattractive and undesirable characteristics must be associated with femininity. This is a giant myth.
While it may be true that many girls have been short-changed when it comes to having been raised to reach their potential, which could explain an apparent belief that more women than men have the above unattractive characteristics (if, in fact, there are more women than men with these characteristics); the truth is that femininity does not exclude things like being objective, being tough, being able to make tough decisions, being governed by one's intellect rather than one's emotions, being a leader or being will or able to compete, or any of the positive traits that people so easily and automatically believe that men must have (even when many don't).
The other big myth about femininity is that women "are just like men" when it comes to being sexual. They aren't. They have their own sexuality, and it doesn't even resemble the sexuality of men. These days young women are encouraged to act the way men have always acted, and this is based on that myth.

In hegemonic western patriarchal society, myths about femininity, when read as a representation of women, are products and projections of the male fantasy.
Myths such that women are weak, neurotic, inferior in size and ability to men and that women (femininity) is somehow of less importance than masculinity (men). First off, in spiritual and psychological terms one person can contain both masculinity and femininity in there psyche, therefore if the myth about femininity were true, then all humans would contain aspects of themselves that are weak and inferior. Basically the greatest myths about femininity were created by men (patriarchy) to support the myth that men are somehow superior to women.

That deep down all women really want is a secure life, a guy with money and a family, apparently regardless of what the individual women have to say on this matter, people always seem to assume its the most basic instinct and therefore the thing they want the most. I find that just soooo presumptuous and untrue, and not just untrue, the basis for it proposterous too...cuz since when does the most basic instinct take over how anyone wants or chooses to live their lives? If that would be the case, then all the women around the whole world would be the same, and all the men around the world would be the same, would they not?

The biggest myth is that women are the weaker sex. No way just take childbirth for example. Women have more staying power than men....they are the weak ones.
